and i have *got* to get some extra gas too, i am fed up of freezing
ah well, off out in about half hour, better get a wriggle on x0 -
hi bumble, glad you DD like the snow so much. I gather that it is still bad in parts of the country.
Are you on meters then with the gas? Only that is one expensive way to use gas, can you change to direct debit?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

i could change to direct debit, but i would just be sooooo scared of ending up with a high bill that we couldnt pay, and i am worried that we would use it a lot more and pushing the bills up0

To change from a prepay meter to a normal one you have to give a £90 deposit after 3 months that is then taken off your bill. (It's so you don't run up a huge bill and not pay them)
The companies normally assess your usage depending on size of your house. When I had a meter changed they asked me how many radiators I had in the house and worked out my usage based on that. I have never had a huge bill as the monthly dd has always covered the usage. Plus you get a discount for having dual fuel with the company and by paying by direct debit.
Because you are used to budgetting your usage you always will be. Just carry on using as you do.0 -
thanks, that really helps, its not something we have looked into before0

I know what you mean about being scared to change from pre pay meter. We are on maters for gas and electric and spend about £20 per week on gas and £10 on electric. but it makes you more aware of what you are using and i make sure i turn everything off at the plug when its not in use.Barclays OD -£805.93/limit £800 A & L OD -£350.00/limit £250HFC (laptop) £549.00, Barclays Loan £3033.00, O2 £331 (227.70 left)(defaulted):eek::eek:0

So that works out at 20x52/12 = £86 per month
10x52/12 = £43 per month
total = £129 per month I currently have a 3 bedroom property albeit 1 room not used and I pay a total of £95 on my direct debit for both utilities. I will also admit that nothing is turned off at the wall and my tv upstairs in my bedroom is actually on standby. Very naughty I know but shows I could reduce it a lot and I'm still paying £34 less a month than you are. I am currently in credit even though it is winter.
I've only shown these to highlight how much more you pay per unit used by being on prepayment meters and they are supposed to help people :eek:0 -
