Hi all,
Just a quick update.
Im going to do corned beef hash for dinner tonight.
And im thinking of cooking my beef joint in the slow cooker for dinner tomorrow. Iv never done beef before but i did cook a chicken in the slow cooker a few weeks ago and that turned out great. Anyway ill let you know what i do and if i do it in the slow cooker i will tell you how it turns out and how i get on with it:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Two loads of washing are on the line outsideand made a large cooked breakfast as one DD is spending the day in York wth a friend and the other one is working extra hours today.
DH gave me a lift to get another bag of potatoes and also managed to find a nice fleecy dressing gown for oldest DD which I need to hide away for Christmas.
Got some posh Christmas cards at Morrisons which I need to write over the weekend. Also got 10 sheets of wrapping paper for 49 pence (two for 80 pence) which I need for presents and a couple of hampers.
If I can brave the cold later I will see if I can grab a couple of cardboard boxes for hampers to make up later.
Have just put the central heating on as it is really cold.

Nice to have you back posting.:j
No idea what to make for tea tonight- might ask DH if he fancies egg and chips- not telling him it is easy but making out it is a real treat for him;)"This site is addictive!"

Afternoon!
Candy - hope that the dramas have been resolved, and hugs to your mum and all of you, it's bound to be really hard for her and you now xx
Penpin - welcome back!
Sybil - I saw those £4 meals in M&S yesterday, I thought they looked quite good value for ready meals as they are quite big, let me know what they're like, good for those times when the freezer refuses to hand out anything prepared and I've had enough of cooking!
Missed out on breakie as my friend stood me up, turned out for the best as kids needed ferrying around all over the place! Did finish my wrapping as well, just the stocking fillers to go now. Need a couple more bits and bobs for friends, but know what I'm getting so just need to pop into town and pick it up, not going today as it's bound to be manic! DS has gone Christmas shopping with a mate, he phoned to ask if I'd bought WII music for anyone as he thought it'd make a good pressie for his sisters, sounds like great fun and I'm quite looking forward to it!
dd1 and dd3 had sausage and chips for their lunch, easy and quick, especially since dd1 cooked it! I had a cuppa and a couple of jaffa cakes!
Need to make a list now of all outstanding jobs relating to Christmas, like sorting out sausages wrapped in bacon, dd2 will weep if they aren't around the turkey! Need to find and write cards, post a couple of parcels and a few more jobs. Feeling fairly on top of things this year! Have def spent a lot less than normal, I don't know what everyone else does, but my kids usually have one big pressie and a few smaller ones, then loads of bits and bobs. This year I've not done all the bits and bobs, kids know about this and don't seem at all bothered, with four children I think its all too easy to end up with way too many pressies and way to big a dent in the bank account!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
well, have spoken to mil. mostly sorted out issues. or as best as can be done at moment. now am in a stress cos i've been given a sewing machine and i cant get the flaming thing to work!!!! aaarrrggghhh!!!:mad::mad:
the thread from the bobbin keeps looping underneath. dunno what i'm doing wrong. not used a sewing machine since high school so am a bit lost to be honest and it's an old toyota one. only really ever used singers before. lol.
cant get it working and cant think straight cos poor little one is teething and miserable. oh has gone for a lie down as he's not feeling well, no1s is feeling rotten too. so falling behind with the re organising. still not decided whats for tea. hardly had time to think. will have to be organised though as have got friends coming over later. am meant to be measuring up a jack russel for a dog jacket!! not if i cant get this machine working. lol. cant get a manual online either. they're in every language but english or cost money. cant win.well best get on with it i suppose. cant wait til bath and bed time to be honest. shattered already, for no reason. lol.

Afternoon all
BIL wanted hubby to work today, so we got up at 6 & got dressed, I did hubby a packed lunch & we sat & waited & waited & waited. At 8:30 hubby rang BIL1, he was still asleep & changed his mind about work!!!
So we went into town & got hubby a new rucksack & boots, just incase BIL does decide to get his @r$e in gear & start work. I got a new pair of slippers as my last ones have fallen apart, we spent £20 in total, not too bad.
WM has been on twice & DW once.
We had porrige for breakfast, HM burgers in a bun for lunch & will have toast & pate for tea.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

wannabe sybil - When I make dumplings I make the dough as you describe then just drop them in the stew 30 mins before you want to eat it and they cook in the liquid in the pan. I love stews, OH isn't keen though
Pen-pin :j welcome back
Today is.. err one of those days. I'm sat at work (now there's a suprise) waiting for the autoclave to bleep. I have been here hours as there seems to be no power down one side of the lab and it's knocked out one of the machines so I'm stuck running things one at a time rather than in parallel. It's taking hours and I'm so bored. I need to go home and do some work on my dress otherwise I'll not get it finished in time. It looks errr like a ..... "work in progress" at the moment
But I found a pie maker in the charity shop for £4 on the way to workNew toy new toy :j :j
Not sure what dinner will be yet, fridge suprise I guesshave a good day all cel x

REDRUBY,How do you know all the birthdays on here? You sent me Bday wishes and I hadn't told anyone. Do you have special powers or is your surname Duboise (as in Medium) you are clever. :T
Beth, I do have special powers, and a crystal ball, (but generally I just look at the list of birthdays, which you will find on the front page, under the current users list)
:rotfl: xxx
We have been out for a lovely walk through the woods, about 6 miles I think, stopped at a cafe on the way back for a cuppa and chips, Oh has just taken little dog up to my mums, and I am off to beautify myself for tonight, (might take a while
).
Oooo also I popped into Co-op this morning, and they have their free range chickens at half price, I got three for £2.58 each :T , one for tomorrow and two for the freezer :T , also a large packet of ham reduced to 50p, I never usually find ys bargains, but there was lots in the co-op will keep looking in there.
Also my mum rang to say that she had got a sack of spuds for £4.50, which is a good price, so will grab a sack for next week.
Well better jump in the bath, have good evenings all xx0 -
Woohoo :j
i finally got to sit down for a few minutes, i`ve finished the tree and it looks fabulous, i`m so pleased with it. Last year we had a small fibre optic one and it`s just not the same. I`ve managed to get all the baubles on but i`ve not got room left for the tinsel - which is just as well as i can`t find it
I`ve prepared enough food for chicken dinners for the next couple of days and the bones are now simmering in a large pan to make stock for gravy and also for the doggies dinner and i`ve one of Diva`s apple cakes in the remoska.
I hope that the cake turns out ok as i`ve altered the recipe as it`s for Dad`s Birthday and he can`t have sugar. I make the normal recipe and it`s one of our favourite cakes but i substituted the sugar for splenda, i found that i didn`t have any splenda powder as we don`t use it but i did have splenda tablets for when Dad visits so i visited a conversion site and the splenda site and 4oz = 8 tablespoons which is 24 teaspoons  so i dissolved 24 tablets in a tiny bit of hot water and beat it into the egg. I have my fingers well and truly crossed
I`m now going to wrap Dad`s pressies and write out his card ready to visit him tomorrow.
Catch you all later.

Hi again!
PP - great to have you back again!:j
went to see Lesley but things have got worse - she's had the doc out and they are sending for her son again from afghanistan. She's still got her sense of humour though - said she could murder a fag!:D told her she'd blow the place up with her being on oxygen!
Had to bath both dogs this afternoon as we spotted a few fleas:eek: not sure how they got them unless it was from some blankets we were given as its the wrong time of year for them really. All bedding chucked out, luckily they only ever stop in the kitchen so the rest of the house is ok. I also sprayed them with a teatree spray.
Think it will be an easy tea of Pizza and spicy wedges as its Strictly tonight. Not got a clue who will go out tonight as they are all so good!
have a nice evening all xDo what you love :happyhear0
