  • Morning everyone,I'm up late today.Hubby just woke me with a cuppa on his way to work.He asked me what I was dreaming about that made me have such a smile on my face.I dare'nt tell him.
It's positively tropical outside at least 6 degrees and quite welcoming compared to the arctic conditions of late.
I've got to go shopping today, what with being at my daughters last weekend and the bad weather all week I've not ventured anywhere. So I'll be battling the shops all afternoon.
I've got some lentil soup ready for lunch and a stew made yesterday for dinner so at least I won't have to start cooking when I come in.
N9eav,I'm glad you got your specs,I'm afraid to get my eyes tested in case the world is'nt quite as rosy when I see it properly. At the moment I'm in a very hazy kind of denial.
Moiliere I know how you feel about your son,it's odd how strange you feel when your children grow up.I married very young and had 3 daughters. Now at the age of 53 have an 18 year old granddaughter.I find it very hard watching her grow up,I just want her to stay little and cuddly. My own little girls went years ago and have now become my very good friends as well as daughters.
Well I'm off, going to see if I can find that impossible pie recipe as Moliere made it sound very tasty and I'll need a pud for tonight.I wonder can it be made in advance.
Have a good day everyone.Hope no ones poorly and if they are get well soon.
    Take care xxx

My friend had her baby yesterday, an 8lb 8oz little boy woohoo-smiley.gif 23 hours of labour  by which time she was exhausted and had to have a caesarean but they're both OK :D He has a name I can't pronounce (they're Brazilian) so I'll have to practice it lol.

I didn't get to speak to him, for some reason he thought speaking to children was more important

Haven't been around for a while, so hope everyone is OK

N9eav, know what you mean about the Woollies sale, I went, but just got a few stocking filler gifts with 50% off

Spent all yesterday afternoon wrapping presents, I have lots, but thanks to this wonderful site, it hasn't cost too much :j

Going to get our tree today, we have a real one and DH has to hold up dozens until I find the right one :D

Lovely Indian takeaway tonight, and Strictly and X Factor.

Have a great Saturday everyone, good luck if you are venturing out to the shops x

  • Hi Guys!

I'm still here and reading:D Have missed you all and couldn't stay away any longer.

It's lovely to see so many newbies too....welcome everyone!

Life is still challenging but many on here have been helping me through the bad days. Anyway, I am alive and have to be thankful of that.

OS-2 washloads have been done and dried in the TD:o but run out of hanging space. DW needs to go on later and emptied. Kitchen has been cleared after OH made us Egg & Soldiers for breakfast. We are having a Roast Chicken dinner today with Goose fat roasties...yummy. At nephews tomorrow for dinner and need at least 1 roast over the weekend:D

Had to submit meter readings for G&E yesterday and our DD may be going up to £110 pm I think, thats if I have worked the figures correctly. We already pay £87pm but it's maybe just where we have had the heating on more with it being this time of year:confused: ...im not too sure how they work it?

We cancelled my helper on a Monday last week. It was getting ridiculous, so OH has decided to do it himself. We will see how it goes.

OH has finished this part of his sign language course and passed with flying colours. He goes back in the new year now.

    B-Egg & Soldiers
    L-Left over curry
    D-Roast Chicken Dinner

Loads more but I wont waffle.

    Nice to be back.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all,

I also now have Cliff Richard stuck in my head....

Eugh, I cant think of anything worse :D .

Morning all, nice day here too, will get out walking later, dd is off into town to go to the pictures with some mates, her dad will take her and pick her up.

Tonight OH and I are off to his works xmas do, he works for my BIL, so my sister will be there, and its normally a good laugh, we are going on a ghost tour of the local towns dungeons  , which is apparantly terrifying :D , and then a meal and drinkies after, so no cooking for me either :T , dd is off to her nans for the night, and I think they are going to make some xmas chocolates.

Will have a quick tidy through today, I have OH work stuff in the wm. I need to go to Mr T and get a joint for tomorrow, I had ordered one with my shopping, but they were out of stock and sent a more expensive one instead, which I sent back.

Happy Birthday to Chrisca, and Kathys son,

And Happy Birthday to Candy the dog x

Kathy I hope the little one continues to improve x

Hi and thanks for all the continuing good wishes for LO and for the happy birthdays to DS2 - he's coming round later this morning with his new wife (who has bought him tickets to see Oasis at Wembley next June!)

Tru - congratulations to your friend. That't the exact weight of my first!

Mrs Tittlemouse - Impossible Pie can be made in advance and can also be reheated. For just the two of us, I make it in one dish, then halve it and have the rest the following day. It's very easy to make and really tasty. Somewhere there is a recipe for a savoury one, too, which is yummy, too! It should be in the recipes index but if you can't find it, I'll post it later.

Must dash - just had a couple of phone calls and it seems the whole family is coming round in about half an hour!

    Morning all,

I am having a lazeeeee day today :) Will have to get dressed at some point though as I have to go out and get the washing in.

I signed up to the 4k a year thread yesterday

Yesterday, I finally figured out my electric meter - I have a key meter and have been looking at it thinking there is no actual meter (with dials that go round), or if there was it had been covered with compression steel wire so I couldn't get at it. Then someone told me that the blue button on my key meter - if I press it, it comes up with a whole range of digital displays of useful information . I was also told how to use my storage heaters properly - turn them right down when they are charging up so that it's not heating up/chucking out at the same time, then turn it up later in the day when it gets cold. I feel so stupid.

So today...pottering around the house, Ebay listings, sorting out Xmas pressies. Usual stuff.

I think breakfast might be cheesy mushrooms on toast, lunch....not sure, and dinner maybe bacon and mushroom carbonara. I have lots of mushrooms.

    Hope you all have a good day :beer;

Morning everyone. Stuck in work until 4pm, at least its a nice crisp day, blue sky & sunshine. Need to pop into town after work to pick up a few bits and pieces, hopefully it should have all calmed down by then.

Halight - speaking as a twin, wait until they are older. The stories my parents have of me & my bruv when we 3 or 4 years old are great.

Betheebee - I never have the foresight to collect fir cones & the like, I'm sure your house will look great when its all finished.

    N9eav - won't the sherry affect your vision again?:D

Cold baked gammon & potato wedges for tea, then feet up doing nothing.

    Morning peeps

lovely and sunny here this morning but also quite nippy, i woke at 3am and had a cuppa and put the washing on the radiator airers. I had an hour on here browsing and the nodded back off until half past six and then i got up and made DH some sandwiches and ran him to w*rk.
On the way back i called at Asda and took a wrong turn  managed to get there in the end and in one piece though, i would normally go a different way but i think that what i saved in petrol won`t compensate for the hair loss :D

It`s Dad`s birthday tomorrow and i wanted to get him a bottle of the port which is on offer for a fiver, i was disappointed as i couldn`t find it at first but did eventually but it wasn`t near the normal shelf at all. I`ve added that to his basket of goodies which i shall wrap later.

The houndies are walked and they really enjoyed themselves as a lot of their pals were in the park, 7 houndies all playing together - i love to see them enjoying themselves.

Yesterday we bought the tree :j we went absolutely everywhere and looked at both real and artificial and really couldn`t make up our minds as the last place we visited had one of each which we both liked. We eventually decided on the artificial one as it was half price and as it was the last one of it`s type we had the display one and got a further 10% off :j most moneysaving really too as it can be used again and we didn`t have to buy a stand to keep a real tree watered, that would have worked out a lot more expensive. Part of me wanted a real one as i`ve never had one but i do like the new one even if it is a bit on the large side :o I`ve just struggled upstairs with the computer chair to make room for the tree.

We bought new lights which were a third of the normal price as we also lost the lights when we lost the last tree and i`ve found all my baubles out and all the lovely knitted decorations which were kindly made for us years ago so i can`t wait to get started on it all now :D

Betheebee - i love the sound of your hm decorations and i too as envious of your beams, please feel free to post pics when you`ve finished them :D

Chrisca - Happy belated Birthday for yesterday and also Happy Birthday for Kathys DS2 and Candy the doggie :bdaycake:

((((HUGS)))) for Lesley and the poorly little girl, hope that both improve.

I`m now off to polish the baubles and have a cuppa :D

    Have a sunny Saturday everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
