Really? Either my eye sight is failing (which I doubt) or my monitor is broken. I can't read it even zooming in.

Well you're zooming in on a pic likely taken with a 2 megapixel phone camera, there's a vast difference in the quality there and what you'll be able to make out compared with what your eyes can make out in store, isn't the human eye the equivalent of a 576 megapixel camera? I'm sure things would seem clearer to your eyes inside the store.
    Bought, not Brought
  • Just looking at the sign, it says "all discounts include the VAT cut!!". Is it me or does that mean you cannot actually get the item at 50% off, seeing as 2.whatever% is VAT and not a sale price reduction?

Woolies arnt the only ones doing this, most places do it.

Noticed a huge poster outside JJB today and it was the same, its even on there site, although its alot clearer on there than on the poster as you can't see the 95% clearly from a distance, you nearly have to be under it to see the "up to" part

I went into Woolworths today after reading one of Martin's Money tips which says in bold type "50% off Woolworths", so naturally thinking everything was 50%, I spent my £5:00 on travel and went to Wollies.

As I approached the store I seen the same big bold advertisements "50% OFF ALL STOCK", so I went about my shop. After lifting a few items I noticed a marker on the shelves saying "10% OFF", "20% OFF" and initially thought the markers were out of date, but as I carried on through the store I began to take a closer look at the "50% OFF ALL STOCK" sign and noticed it actually said "up to 50% OFF ALL STOCK". :o

Let's just say I'm not a very happy MSE member, and after reading today's Sun, I see Halfords are at the very same trick on Sat Navs

Don't these companies know they are putting potential clients off? Maybe these companies are just in for the quick buck, hey?
