Don't set yourself up to be someone who reads things to "the point of dullness" then if you cant see what it says on the original poster - not a small picture of one in the background on here.

There is a large poster (several in fact) outside my local woolies and in small lettering in the top right hand corner is states - "up to"

Small lettering it may be but perfectly legible.

So again - how were you misled and by whom?

Have you seen an original poster for this sale?

Jeez. You disagree with someone and they get all narky.

I get paid my salary for checking out detail in contracts. I don't expect to have to examine small print on an advertising poster. Clearly it was designed to catch the attention with "All stock 50% off" or the "up to" would have been the same sized font.

I was misled by the poster. Others were as well. Therefore it is arguably misleading.

Went to a big Wollies yesterday, formally a Big W. They clearly have had a lot of complaints about the posters as they had put up a number of new posters around the store pointing out the "up to" part of the offer. Saying that nothing much worth buying when we got in anyway:confused:

Even on that poor photograph, I can make out the "upto" bit.

Really? Either my eye sight is failing (which I doubt) or my monitor is broken. I can't read it even zooming in.

    Narky - me.
Not at all - well not yet anyway.

    Thanks for answering.

I do examine the small print on adverts as that's where the important information tends to be.

I'm afraid I have better things to do.

    Anyway, lets agree to differ.

    I don't get it.

It clearly states UPTO 50% off on the signs, and common sense would state that a business would never sell ALL their stock off at 50% off given they have debts to pay...

And besides, they also supply Zavvi high street shops with all their stock, so they would have passed all their dvds, cds etc... on to them rather than sell them at 50% off!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

The arm that supplies zavvi and other retailers is not in trouble
It's distribution arm (Entertainment UK) in administration. Please follow this link to Companies House detail on receivers:

    http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/5bc0f59f5e43dfaac0625a41794e20ba/insolvency

Or this to an article in the Guardian about how its affecting Zaavi:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/dec/02/highstreetretailers-woolworths

As with any business in administration, the administrators will work out which bits are worth selling and move it on. In the meantime, it suffers along with the rest of the company.
