Actually I agree with you if your kitties live indoors - I'm sure I've read that yours do don't they? Mine go out during the day, so don't use the litter tray much, which is why I don't need to clean it every day :)

If they use it during the day even if they go outdoors it should still be cleaned out just like you would flush a toilet after a poo, you wouldn't just leave it in the pan would you? If they don't use it at all one day then fine, but if it's been used then you should clean it. It doesn't matter anyway what other people do it's up to them.

Okay I could have worded it differently but to not clean out a litter tray every day is just dirty.

Obviously you wouldn't have a name for them as you consider me dirty. These owners properties do pong & the cats not knowing any different do still use those trays - admittedly they often are p/time tray users. Not to my taste but real moneysaving experts - which is why we are here!:money:

go cat girl (?) - I am wondering whether you use an enclosed toilet box like the cat litterboxes with entry flaps that mine do actually? That is - you cannot see or smell anything from outside and inside the litter is scented, 300% more absorbant than ordinary litter AND there is a carbon filter in the roof which is changed regularly. It's making me laugh imagining you squat in one now actually.

Errr I don't change mine every day either, but TBH mine do go out every day and do their business there.......

I know its pretty horrible but sometimes when they mess in the tray the dog gets to it before I do (especially if I am out) and he eats it. I cannot stop him doing it and he will also eat the poo they do in the garden.

I am not going to judge anyone based on how many times they do/don't change their tray, its more than a little silly. At the end of the day its whatever works for them, and if changing the tray once every month does then surely thats fine? I am sure the animals aren't coming to any actual harm.

And FYI I don't flush the toilet every time I wee because I go quite often and its a waste of water.....if that makes me disgusting then so be it but I am a clean person and my house doesn't smell. Its my personal choice

No offence but maybe you should shut up once in a while, it might make you better at listening to other people?

Insurance form day 1 is my top recommendation. Followed by neutering/spaying as soon as ready.

I have had many cats over the years. some kittens, some adults and as my parents in a rural location we have barn cats to keep the mice down.

I had a Grey tabby who managed to break a leg falling off a window sill at roughly 30 ish weeks and thats was ££££ but thankfully I had insurance for her. She is 8 now and just fine but she stayed with my parents when I moved out. Parents also have a ginger tom who is 16, he is a major hunter but also loves cuddles. Never uses tray inside and always poos and pees outside.

Herewith me I have a black American short hair, she is 17 and is totally at home indoors but she will venture out onto our roof terrace but not outside the front door for some reason. She has a hooded tray downstairs and another upstairs. Both trays are out of the way. She always favors the down stairs tray but i like having two just in case she is caught short. I scoop daily if the tray has been used and change litter totally on a Sunday as well as disinfecting the tray. she is fussy about her litter and it must be the compressed wood pellets that turn to sawdust.

I would recommend you learn how to clip nails yourself. indoor cats nails tend to grow fast and don't wear down as much as a hunter cats would. regular clippings are essential to prevent nails growing into the pad of the paw and for a house cat regular trips to the vet in a car can be stressful IMO.

When I lived at home we used to foster for a cat charity and please please please consider opening your home to an adopted adult or juvenile cat. Sadly far too many people abandon pets because they either get to big or no longer fit with their lifestyle.

My cats do use them tray yes and yes even though they trap odour (in which the cats will be breathing in) I still clean them out twice a day to keep their loo clean ;)
