Well i'll take your word for that, I myself don't & haven't had nervous pets & I bet that's a new one on the owners & Vets here lmao a cat breaking a leg isn't caused by the Owners worrying! It's called being a responsible pet
owner . So, when humans get ill how's that happen without them having a worried owner? Wow magic huh! Animals can get ill without going outside just as humans do, if they get cancer or arthritis or diabetes or twist a leg jumping, hows that down to the Owners? Get real0 -

I don't have any - mine are indoor. I may consider it when the Tom is 10 as he hunts ocassionally. I find love & attention works well for me.
Yeah the Vets must be struggling to survive when all pets need is love, why have Vets then? How can an indoor cat hunt? And good luck finding a decent insurer when he's 10 :rotfl: If you loved the pet you'd insure it simple as, or would you just have it put down instead? By 10 the tom may well have arthritis or worse & then you won't be able to get insurance but good luck healing him & keeping him pain free on love alone! If that worked MSE's Pets wouldn't ever see a Vet :rolleyes:0 -
sadly, love and attention (and she had more than plenty) didn't prevent my cat from getting cancer0

Defiantly get insurance as soon as possible! And make sure you get 'cover for life' (and check Quidco for cashback too
When they are babies you may need panacur wormers, then onto drontal or milbemax when they are 6 mths old (once every 3 mths)
Flea treatment - DO NOT USE SUPERMARKET STUFF! I use Frontline spot on.
Neutering at 6mths, Vaccination at 9 & 12 weeks as mentioned, and microchip.
Toys/scratchers etc esp when they are young
I have a catflap, but live in a rural area, and make sure it is locked at night.
I have a bog standard open litter tray, lined with newspaper, and cheapo lightweight cat litter, and I must be an awful owner coz I only empty it every 1-2 days(No offence Kimberly
but my cats are quite happy with that, and never mess in the house, and it doesnt pong)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Hmm - well it's like this I am sure Martin said we have choices in this: pay insurance or put money aside for vets fees.....
I hada cat for 21 years & she had a few car accidents - the price I have been quoted for my two despite that they are mostly indoors is more than I am prepared to pay. I have an external walkway so the cats run around on those - the Tom ocassionally jumps through the railings to gain access to the outside world - it's a fair bit of hassle for him so he doesn't do it that often as he has to `ask' to come back in & I sleep like the dead - he has befriended 2 neighbours on the ground floor & think they let him back in if/when they hear him. If he develops old age illness (like arthritis) insurance will not prevent that. Insurance does not cover for things like annual jabs etc - I have costed it out & made a personal decision - like I said it's an individual choice. He's just come in with a missing claw - I have put antiseptic on it & I will observe him - if either of my pets need to go to the vet they do. However I do inspect them regularly, putting toothpaste on their teeth, brushing their fur etc.
I wish the closed open minds for Xmas! lol0 -

I would be grateful in this season of goodwill that other moneysavers bore this in mind.

Okay I could have worded it differently but to not clean out a litter tray every day is just dirty.0 -
rita-rabbit wrote: »I thank you for this comparison:mad: . However I do not think it's appropriate. If you get them used to you running around constantly cleaning every time they visit the tray then you will get `protest doings' elsewhere if you are busy sometimes! Then of course you will have rendered yourself a prisoner of your home as no-one else will clean the litter like that neither relatives, a cattery or cat sitters (ie no overnights/weekend/hols away as cats will be either a nuisance & `go' elsewhere/not go but `back up' by not going much at all & be both unhappy & unhealthy) so if that suits you then fine.
That is pure rubbish, i'm sorry but a cat is a clean animal and has to have a clean litter tray. You wouldn't like to walk in your own mess would you? Thats just discusting to not clean it out each day. A cat will not poo/wee outside the tray if the litter tray is cleaned often and i've never heard of anything so ridiculous. Cats will NOT use a dirty litter tray and you should thank your lucky stars your cats have not gone elsewhere in your home.0 -

Actually I agree with you if your kitties live indoors - I'm sure I've read that yours do don't they? Mine go out during the day, so don't use the litter tray much, which is why I don't need to clean it every dayI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

 I have said before I do not think comparing myself with a cat is appropriate - if you do then fine. I live my full life & you live yours however you see fit.
Note: silica litter is designed to be left for one whole MONTH & then changed. I measure the dry food my two have 95% of the time - this produces far less waste than wet & yes they are indoor - the female 100% the male about 85% of the time:beer:
Now just DROP it0 -
