i just wonder, if woolies had as many customers, as they have had in the previous week, since the news broke, normally go into there shops and buy stuff, would they have ever been in trouble in the first place:confused:

Good luck everyone for tomorrow if your gonna try and grab a bargain. I would love an xbox 360 but my local woolies is avery small branch and I can't see them having loads of xboxes in stock anyway.

Worth a visit though? What do ya reckon?
Just to win anything would be great!!

  • As a company in administration, Woolworths cannot get credit from its suppliers. The only way for them to get new stock into the warehouse is to pay cash. Obviously, the company is broke - it hasn't got a wad of cash in the bank. So they absolutely have to generate some sales right now. This gives them the cash to pay for the stock they ordered to come in just before Christmas. The administrators have to try to keep them trading as normally as possible over Christmas, as that's when they get most of their turnover. This is the correct procedure for running a store that has no credit facility. Expect lots of price cutting at Woolworths. Maybe this will even drive down prices in other shops in order to compete. For all the trouble it's in, Woolworths has an unfair pricing advantage in some sense right now. It only needs to maximise profit for a month or two - not to secure the long term future and growth of the business.

Overheard a staff member telling a friend about the sale tomorrow.
Apparently it will be 10% off the CD, computer games etc isle. 20% something else and 30% off something else (couldnt hear very well)

So its definately not going to 50% off throughout the store. But worth a look.

50% off will be available on a very limited range, most of the discounts will be 10-30%

Still, if you were planning on buying things anyway it will be a good bonus.

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

I have just been in Woolies and seen my friend who works there. She told me "if you have any shopping to do here, come back tomorrow and come back early". ;)
