I would say that it's worth checking out the books though...I got a load of stocking filler books that had all been reduced to 40p from between 3.99 - 6.99 and a Beano Annual for 5.49 which was £9.99.
Also - the Worth It pens, pencils, glitters, glues etc which are usually 87p each went through the till at 2 for £1.30ish, so all in all I got three kids stockings for £39 - less than I would have done at the Pound Shop!0 -
I got a dove set in a lovely box for £4.50 (was £9)
dove weekend minis £3 from £6
pretty tablecloths for xmas 17p matching napkins (20 pack) for 17p
other xmas stuff like cards, decs, wrapping paper etc was 30% off
toys were 20% off, some board games reduced and then had 20% off
gardening stuff 30% off
100 cake cases for 17p too.
A lot of the stuff was already reduced and then they reduced it further (ie the 30% off)
In my store they also had for 50% off:
jack daniels gift sets (no drink though!) magnets, wallets
manicure sets
things for cars
in the night garden bubble bath
disney princess make up
girls make up in a wheelie case and a small case
hairbands and brush set
candles
some dove tanning thing
various little tool sets
It was crazy though.Pleased to be out!0 -
I have been to Woolworths in Banbury and there are real bargains to b had, most reductions are around 20/30% but still if you need it its a bargain.

Got there as early as I could, but already the place was heaving. Manged to find a few things, but was sorely disappointed that toys were only 20%. The lego set (a big green truck) that I bought a couple of weeks ago in there for £17.50, was now back up to £35 with only 20% off!
However, by the time I had had a good look round, I realised that the queue was the whole length of (the very long) store and beginning to double back on itself. I spent 10 mins in the queue without moving at all and ended up just giving up - like lots of other people.
All in all, a total waste of time for me.
I did notice that posters were 50% off though with the bigger sizes on a 2 for £7 offer, making them now 2 for £3.50. Would have like to get some, but not worth the long wait.0 -
i got £70 o stuff, dad got £80
thats all the family childrens xmas done
woooo!!!THANK MEEE:j0 -
i went to the sheerness store and it was MEGA busy!
but i got lots of things, and have now finished my xmas shopping!!!
should have come to £142 something, but actually came to £106
lots of things, like a tea-for-one set (penguin teapot which sits on top of a penguin mug), £5, down to £2 and with the 20% discount it was actually £1.60(got two of these)
a penguin salt and pepper set £4 down to £2 down to £1, with the 20% off was 80p (got two of these too)
a HSM 3 poster, and a thomas the tank engine poster - both £3.99, 50% off they were £1.99 each
HTH! there was loads on the shelves, even though the shop was full to bursting with shoppers!0 -

cant belive how much this thread has grown since this morning, decided i shall pop over to woolies in wellingborough big signs up "up to 50% off", it was packed the queues for the tills were like a next sale.
hopefully woolies will not disappear as it has been part of the high street, since i was a little girl.
anyway, there was discounts off everything even the electicals and games etc had 10% off, a few i can remember they had the "disney cars ramone" cd players reduced to £20, a disney princess combi reduced to £105. plus quite a few games etc if they did have any consoles etc then there would have been 10% off but i did not look to closely.
the toys i did not get much as it was only 20% off and i could have got this the other week with the voucher. they had loads of the little disney diecast cars.
i think people were expecting a lot more in discount than what there was, but if they are still trying to save woolies then they wont want to give everything away. the staff seemed quite happy what with all that is going on, i did see a few shirt and tie's wandering about with big folders.
i got my son an iggle piggle bubble bath for £2.50 my daughter a big snowglobe disney princess bubble bath for £2.50 both reduced from £5.00.
peppa pig grandpas boat bath toy thing reduced from £14.99 to £11.20.
did not get a great deal as i have already got all my kids stuff and i would probably find it cheaper from amazon.
regards

Went to Wrexham for 9am and it was already heaving, I actually spent longer in the queue than browsing the store.
Still got me a few bargins tho!!;)0 -
Reading through this thread you would think that all Woolies employes are unhelpful & want to keep any sales secret so they can horde all the goodies for themselves!.
Perhaps the staff on the shop floor genuinely don't know or are at least not 100% sure on the details so would rather not say in case they incite a riot come Friday morning when you kick off about not getting a games console with 50% off
Er - one of the big retailers is tryingt o find out which employee leaked their first 20% sale to the public as it's a sackable offence... not surprised the Woolies employees were trying to keep schtum!0
