...Spoke to Lesleys partner last night. She has had another bad day the other day but was better yesterday, they have been told it is a matter of weeks and that there will now be no chemotherapy so the best they can do is have her home for what time she has got left. Nurses will come in 4 times a day and one at night too. I do hope she makes it through Christmas so she can spend time with her grandchildren, one of whom is having his first christmas.
This puts everything into perspective, makes our silly day to day worries seem so unimportant....
Just a quickie - I was wondering if maybe Lesley & her family could bring Christmas forward & have it early, so that she is well enough to enjoy it & to see the children enjoying it? I'm conscious of how my parents both progressed with their illnesses, and I'm sure it would mean a lot to all of them to have had that special time together as a family. :grouphug:0 -

Morning all
Hugs to all the poorlies or those who want one...
Very jealous of those of you with snow - would love some...although after a 2 and a half hour power cut this morning I'm guessing the snow wouldn't have helped the chill factor....typically it was throwing it down with rain and so dark I couldn't see to do anything - the power came back on and the sun came out...never mind - at least I can get on with some bits now.
Our dishwasher died last night, or so it seemed, after reading on the DIY forum we tried a few tricks which didn't work and gave up in the small hours of this morning, leaving it full of boiling water and soda crystals...just in case it might help.....this morning it drained first time!!! :T Gotta love soda crystals.
Need to do some baking this afternoon, fairy cakes, biscuits and soda bread and make something with pasta for tea. Also need to have a shuffle around in the freezer to fit the Christmas meat in....when I find some I can afford that is.
Made a lovely cheese sauce the other night, normally use a pinch of dried mustard powder to help the flavour but had run out - used a couple of teaspoons of grainy mustard instead and it was delish.....:D
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Just posting to say Hugs to all
Nothing OS to report
Not likely to be anything to report.
:oNo idea what's for tea
Snow very bad this morning, dear heart couldn't get to work at his usual time so left about an hour ago. Still waiting for an email to let me know he has arrived safely.
Something OS to ask - I am due a delivery of groceries from Sainsburys. The rain may have washed away a lot of the snow by then, but what is the best way to clear it so that it does not freeze into a death trap? I was thinking salt, but I don't want it to get too near my plants.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning all!
Snuffly and sniffly today, no idea why as I dont really feel coldy! Prob need to get some dusting done lol!
Whizzed around the house this morning tidying and clearing everything in sight, dd2 had hoovered last night throughout for me, and dd1 had sorted out the kitchen, ds cleared the sitting room and dd3 just made no more mess!
Went for coffee with some friends earlier, sorting out our outfits for Thursday and our mums' Christmas dinner - an Abba themed night! Got some fab long feathery eyelashes that my friend had bought and didn't want, hope I don't spend the whole night feeling like I have spiders attached to my eyelids!
Got another friend popping over this afternoon, then need to drop off the money for the meal and collect the village little ones from school, my turn today! Tonight I'm off to learn flower arranging at the local church hall, it's our village ladies night, we do them once a month and it's always a great chance to just catch up with each other and have a giggle!
OS wise, other than cleaning, I haven't done much yet! Dinner will be the burgers that I was intending to do yesterday, instead we had curry (very nice with the cheap sauce from Approved Foods, still won't be buying it at full price though, lol!). dd3 will be having her burger mix shaped into small meatballs, as she doesn't like the taste when they are burger shaped?!
More pressie wrapping needs doing, if I can find a pair of scissors! And then I need to find a place to keep them! Understairs cupboard is full, so perhaps I need to do a bit of dejunking, then they could go in there as usual.
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs to Lesley, Tristan and Moliere's cousins lo, and all the poorlies and ones having tough times. xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
morning everyone got a day off work today snowed in
HockeyDuo south of Edinburgh is bad
ironing done
cup of tea and malt loaf while skimming through MSE
may change the livingroom furniture around and sort out a
couple of cupboards out
I knew it was going to snow so bought popcorn and mashmallows
to toast on the log fire at tesco last night when i went to check the
snowed in with possible no electrity cupboard yesterday if was a bit
bare (about 5 years ago we were snowed in for 6days with know electric.
board games, cards etc became boring by the end of the second day, camping
in the living room with coal fire as the rest of the house was freezing lost its
fun value also as for cooking on an open fire not soomething I want to repeat)0 -
No snow through the night but it started around 6a.m.!
Told DD(14) if she had to come home and if any of her friends were stranded she could bring them here.
DD(23) phoned to let me know there were no buses - told her to get a taxi to work and told her where to look for one.
She then texted to let me know the bus had turned up!!!
DH is in London today and set off on the 7.25 bus for a 20 minute journey to the station. His company had booked him a ticket for 8.30 train which would have been fine except the journey took well over an hour, he missed his train and the company had cleverly booked a non changeable ticket which meant he had to pay £75 whch he will have to claim back!!!
DH should be due home tomorrow afternoon.
Will have LO lasagne for tonight and have some chicken and sweetcorn soup (approved foods) for lunch.
Trying to decide if I should brave the weather and get to the market but tempted just to sit here with a pot of tea instead.
Hugs to everyone."This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone,
Damp and cold here, no snow or frost thank heavens, as not too keen on either, makes travelling too risky.
Didn't read much of yesterday's thread so hugs to all in especial need or want.
Have to go to town to do errands for DS3, he gets himself into a knot over the least thing, reminds me so much of my father, who was just the same...he even looks like him. Need to get some hot water bottles too, Lidl have them for €4.99 so will get 5 so that everybody has a new one....don't bother myself.
DD2 and her girls arrived last night so house will be chaotic until Christmas now as they are staying for the 3 weeks or whatever, then they will go to Cork to see partner's family and fly back to London from there. Nice to have them here for a good visit, although they will probably visit friends before Christmas.
Stew for dinner to-day, one of my favourites but not of Ulick's so he may have steak instead. Need to do more knitting and now that my email is back sort that out.
Have a good day all

Marie, do you have Home Bargains over there? Hotties are really cheap in there.....if not, PM me & I will pick up 5 when I go this afternoon and send them over, even with postage they are certain to be less than 25 Euro!

Yes I have heard Celyn I rang the bank this morning and spoke to the fraud section, they suspended my account last night and told me to ring and reset it all today, but first I had to run a security scan, so I have changed it over to one that Martin recommended.
The upshot being, I had to change my password/memorable info and my account is back online again. :T
The money that was taken will be refunded in 5 working days from when I reported it, so it should be Mon/Tues next week.
Thank you all for listening and asking how things are going xx
