I was shopping in Asda this morning only to come back to the car to find a parking ticket, from a private company ! The ticket is because i didnt pay in the pay and display but with two screaming children and no change I foolishly decided to just go shopping! I usually go to Morrisons which is free to park, but thought no I will try Asda for a change never again ! Do i pay the fine of £30 as after ten days it goes to £60 and then if that is not paid they will take further action ?
Ignore the fine, ignore all letters, they will give up.0 -
Which company?
Whoever it is:
• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore their threatening junkmail
• they will give up and go away
It's a mail scam. See sig for an example case.0 -
Thanks both of you. I went back to the car park yesterday and found, much to my astonishment, full terms and conditions - admittedly written for someone 8 foot tall, but there nonetheless, and stating that it was necessary to display a valid ticket. There is also a note on the actual machine stating 'you must display a valid ticket', which unfortunately, through a series of events I didn't do. I feel I have made a major blunder and should pay up in the 14 days required for the 'discount' (nice of them). The ticket showing my debit card payment has long since faded (I believe these tickets are designed to do so, so you cannot re-use) but I do have evidence of time and date of payment via my bank. How do I handle it now - not sure I am mentally strong enough to deal with debt collectors etc, even if I'm likely to win.
Thanks in anticipation.0 -

No! No! Don't pay - unless your station ticket was issued under railway byelaws - it's a SCAM.
Please re-read all the advice, just because they also have a scam sign up you think it's legit? You wasted your time going back, TBH, what did you expect, of course they've put some signs up, they almost all do! There are signs up in Supermarket Car parks too but their tickets aren't enforceable either.
Do not pay, you owe nothing. It is NOT a fine. You are strong enough to ignore a few letters, surely. Debt collectors are NOT Bailiffs!
If after reading up on the scam, you honestly feel you would find it very difficult to also ignore letters threatening Court and CCJs (such letters will follow, and they ARE easy to ignore once you know it's a scam) then maybe in your case the registered keeper (you?) could reply using a response along these lines:
'I dispute and deny the alleged debt absolutely, now either proceed with County Court action within 10 days or desist with contacting me further. I will not reply again, except to a genuine Court Order, and any further correspondence or contact from you or your agents pursuing this matter will be considered harassment' response (as stated on some other threads, you'll find it when you read them).
If you do this get a certificate of posting, keep a copy and make sure the registered keeper does NOT state who the driver was (they do NOT have to, even in the County Court, it is for the PPC to prove who was driving, not the other way round).
Personally I would NOT write, wouldn't bother TBH! Waste of time & energy and waste of a stamp/envelope. I just read from your post that you're particularly nervous about it, and maybe you are one who might need to feel that the registered keeper has disputed and denied it (which I understand should stop the PPC from being able to increase the alleged debt or pass it to a Debt Collector).
But be warned they probably will ignore any such letter and you'll still get harassed by their 'Debt Collector' threats anyway. But they won't take you to Court and your Credit Record won't be affected, there will be no CCJ and no Bailiffs (that only happens after a Court finds against you AND you then decide not to pay).
HTH, now relax, spend your money on presents and enjoy Christmas!:TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have just moved into a new apartment and pay for a car parking space registered and numbered only to myself. We hadn't had a pass for 2 weeks and then my partner finally got it. I hadn't reaslised and broke down on the motorway and had a curtosy car. I parked this in our space without even giving it a second thought. The next morning I had a fine for £100 or £75 if paid within 2 weeks. The second week is this week. I actually wrote to dispute it but as seems normal they are having none of it but obviously now have my details.
Can anyone offer some advice as to whether I should pay or not. They are a member of the BPA, but I feel like it is daylight robery to be fined such a large amount to be parking in a specific car park space I pay for.
Please help!0 -
A badly placed board with detailed terms and conditions is the usual sign of a Private Parking Company. Many of them claim, falsely, to operating under Byelaws.0

It's not a real fine if it's from a private parking company.
Certainly DO NOT PAY IT. You haven't committed any offence and don't have to explain yourself nor take any action at all. Read this sticky, the bit about private parking charge notices:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...html?t=1363571
Then if you need convincing further that you must IGNORE this scam ticket and all the scary letters which will follow (then they'll stop!), read all the other threads on this sub-board. Just click on 'parking fines, tickets & parking' above (a blue link just underneath the orange BANKING SAVING tab, top of this page).
Then just relax and spend your money on Xmas pressies instead.:T
