Can they not contact the DVLA to find out the registered keeper of the car?

All that means is that they have wasted £2.50 on getting those details which they can't do anything with.

As others have said, yes they can but it's not the registered keeper who would be in any way pursuable in the Court.

It would be like someone who rents a property picking up an alleged debt, and the Company obtaining details of their landlord! :rotfl:

  • Hi

    Looking for some advice,

I entered a Pay and display car park with a friend and waited in the car for them as they went to bank, this took approximately 15 minuets.
4 weeks later a parking charge Letter has landed on my door step asking for £60 if I pay within 14 days or £100 and any other charges if a pay after the 14 days.
A few points below that might help are:
    • The Parking Charge went to register owner /Keeper of the Car Who was not driving the car at time (was in work) .
    • I did not leave the car at any point
    • I was sent the Parking charge on the basis of a Camera system that checks when you entered and left the Car park
    • The car park has been used as a cut through for many years .

Any help/Advice would be most welcome

    Thanks

Just ignore. It's as simple as that.

  • Hi

Thanks for all the info on this great site. I'm new to websites and computers in general, but think this looks like the right place to get some help. My partner parked on Tesco car park and got issued with a "fine" from Central Ticketing for parking out of the marked bay (her tyre was slightly over the white line en crouching into the next bay). She explained to the enforcer that she had a young baby that was being sick and needed to rush in (which was the truth and all the parent and baby spaces were full.) he just explained we needed to appeal. We appealed but as they were "sympathetic", the charge still stood.

We have till the 13/12/09 to pay £40 or after this date it will go up to £70.
As we were in the wrong as such and have admitted it on the appeal do will still have to pay or just ignore the letters and so forth. just a bit concerned as we have admitted it on the appeal.(that's why I'm posting)

Any replies (either way) would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

    1) They might as well put it up to £7000, it's meaningless and unenforceable
    2) You were not "in the wrong". Lines in private car parks have no legal status.
    3) There is no appeal with PPCs, they just want your cash
    4) As stated above, ignore everything, don't pay them a penny.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • Hi,
I wonder if you can help.

I have just received my first parking ticket from a shopping centre carpark. I have parked there loads and until recently no problms, its now getting busy for xmas and they have decided to now enforce their 4 hour rule.

They have employed a private ticket firm called UK Parlking Patrol Office and I have been issued a Parking Charge Notice which was on my windcscreen.

Is this legal? I know several other people in the office I work also got one of these tickets.

If it helps I am in Scotland so not sure if Scottish law is different!

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Cheers,
i was going to anyway, but wasn't 100% sure because Scottish law sometimes differs from English law.
