    Seems like you all know what your talking about but the name George Walker strikes fear into the folks here in Glasgow as they were the guys who persued everyone for the outstanding ''poll tax'' way back when. I guess the fact that the letter/demand is addressed to my husband is a line of defense for him as he wasn't the driver. If the letter appears from these sheriff officers should he contact them and tell them he wasn't the driver? I'm obviously very worried but feel after all these years of unrestricted car parking and folks still using the keap clear ''bays'' which are safe enough to do so, I really am mad about this and can't afford to pay anyway.

    Poll tax arrears was a genuine debt. This is just a scam invoice. Tell them nothing and carry on ignoring.

    Okay thanks for that, I'll keep on ignoring and keep you posted.
    Still a bit worried though as all of the advice is coming from south of the border and things may work a bit differently up here.Ah well I'll just hang in there, what the hell might be something to get my teeth into. It's only money after all and could be worth it!!

    I am certain I have read on there that Euro Car Parks have NEVER taken anyone to Court...ask the regulars on there to confirm...is that safe enough for you?

    I have been on the site you recomended but as I'm not so hot on the computer I found the site pretty hard to use. I did read a few postings on there and they all seem to say the same thing about ignoring so i'll go with that and keep my fingers crossed
  • I recently parked at a Moto service station and overstayed the 2 free hours parking. The car park was clearlt signed with the following;
    FREE PARKING FOR 2 HOURS
    Thereafter
    cars: £8 for up to 24 hours, Please pay by mobile phone, etc.
    As I don't have a mobile phone this placed me at an instant disadvantage and I was therefore unable to pay for parking.
    I have just recieved a PCN from CP Plus Ltd. What should I do, ignore it ? I'm not sure

    I was in the Tesco car-park in Brigg, Lincolnshire this morning and had a look at their parking signs. It states that you are allowed two hours free parking and then you will be liable to a charge of £60 and they will contact the DVLA etc. What interested me was the statement that "Any profits made from these charges will be donated to our nominated charity". So Tesco (there was no other parking company named) are admitting that they are making a profit from imposing these charges. Something that is illegal under English law.

    Also this morning I was listening to a consumer programme on a BBC local radio station. They featured a woman who drove into a car-park in Hitchin managed by Excell. There had just been just been a cloud-burst and the place was flooded, because she was only wearing flip-flops she drove drove straight out, and reckoned she had been there a maximum of three minute. She then received a letter from Excell saying she had in fact spent twenty minutes in the place and demanding £60. The even supplied timed photographs "proving" this. The BBC reporter made the valid point that unless Excell can produce calibration certificates for the camera then they cannot prove how long somebody has spent in the car-park. This is on top of it being an unenforceable invoice.
    What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

    .
    Can you get a FOI request for just how much they paid their charity? Or is this only for government bodies.
    I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    Ignore it. Its a scam.
    And while we're talking about scams, this "Pay by mobile phone" seems to be getting more common these days. My advice is DON'T. They just want your credit card number.

    I posted on pg 29 of this forum, and I havent heard anything yet, although its only been a couple of wks... I am concerned after reading slinkys comments about admitting it was u, as I appealed too. Have I admitted liability and therefore dont have a leg to stand on? After all - I did read the signs, I did leave the car park late... A lorry prevented me exiting on time but still, u do the crime u do the time... All I object to is the amount of the fine as its extortinate... Im worreid its too late 4 me to ignore it...

    I went to a retail park to collect some items from a well known store.
    It allowed 20 minutes for collection but I was longer than that and when we returned received a fixed ticket issued by Euro Car Parks. As advised on this site we have not contacted them at all.

    However,we received the following letter from a company called Control Account plc they advise as follows;

    We have been instructed by our above named Client and regret to note that you have failed to contact them with your proposals for settlement of this overdue account.

    This account has been passed to ourselves with firm instructions to commence Ligitation and to obtain Judgement against you. Such a course of action may have an advierse affect on your ability to obtain credit and would include costs, court fees and interest which may disproportionately increase the amount outstaning.

    To avoid this please telephone the undersigned within 5 working days of the date of this letter etc etc etc.

    Unquote.

    Should we just continue to ignore them. They have now increased the fine of nearly £100.00

    Cheers.

    PS. Just checked and control account plc are debt collectors.
