After reading about slinky_crazy I am worried that I could be too late to ignore demands for payment from Euro Car Parks. I parked in a keep clear space at Morrisons .People have been parking here for the lifetime to date of the car park. This year Euro Car Parks took over and folks still park there. I used it as the disabled bays closest to the bank were taken and as my father is severely disabled it was the next best option. I got a ticket and stupidly appealed, of course it was refused. Now my husband has received a letter from them as he is the registered keeper advising if payment is not received within 28 days it will go into the hands of George Walker & Co Sheriff Officers. I was driving but the letter was sent to my husband and the appeal letter clearly stated this!!!
    What now guys???

i received a 'ticket' from excel for overstaying in a carpark and will be ignoring any correspondence from them as per advice from the forums and what i've read on pepipoo

just wanted to know if there are any ramifications, ie next time i use one of their carparks will they 'remember' my car, and are they able to tow/clamp it?

Its never too late to ignore Euro Car Parks! You now know that there is no appeal process, and that they dont even read appeal letters. Ignore their drivel about the RK being responsible - he isn't.
Don't worry, all they will do is send more rubbish through the post which you can safely ignore.

No. They can only clamp/tow for trespass, not for an alleged "debt".

Are you sure I should still ignore, the ''fines'' go up by £25.00 for every letter the company sends us. Is it worth the risk??

YES. There is no risk, and its not a fine. They increase the amount to panic you into paying, and it's working isnt it? Have a good read on here, every thread about private parking advises the same.

Yes, just ignore. Eventually they will go away and try and con some other poor sucker. This will never go to court because they have no grounds to sue you.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

We are SURE you should ignore. If you are still wavering, why not ask for reassurance on pepipoo forums here:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

I am certain I have read on there that Euro Car Parks have NEVER taken anyone to Court...ask the regulars on there to confirm...is that safe enough for you?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Seems like you all know what your talking about but the name George Walker strikes fear into the folks here in Glasgow as they were the guys who persued everyone for the outstanding ''poll tax'' way back when. I guess the fact that the letter/demand is addressed to my husband is a line of defense for him as he wasn't the driver. If the letter appears from these sheriff officers should he contact them and tell them he wasn't the driver? I'm obviously very worried but feel after all these years of unrestricted car parking and folks still using the keap clear ''bays'' which are safe enough to do so, I really am mad about this and can't afford to pay anyway.

A couple of years ago, my garage parked my car in a nearby car park while it was in for repairs. They had an arrangement with the manager there to use a couple of bays near the garage, only he was not in that day and it incurred a penalty charge. First I knew was when a threatening letter arrived from PPC Minster Baywatch. I phoned them up (I did not know then what I know now - now I would not "break cover"). The woman on the phone insisted I was liable for the charge as the registered keeper. She did offer a "concession" that if I paid at once, then I need only pay the original penalty. I refused. Unfortunately I do not have the paperwork as I gave it all to the garage and told them to sort it out. The point I am making is that PPCs will certainly lead you to believe it is the car's keeper who is responsible for the fine when it is not.
