Of course the standard answer is ignore but I know in your case there are special circumstances because your mother has been frightened by these parasites. I do wish that these private parking companies could be bought to book. They are despicable, especially when they resort to frightening old ladies. As I said before, demanding money with menaces. Scum of the earth. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

bunnygirl007 - your mother belongs the good old generation that stuck to rules and had respect for authority, unfortunately the crooks behind this scam (including the DVLA) are raking millions in every year and have no respect for anything apart from their cash flow.
You know her best so do you think she'll accept that this is just a scam and not pay? An elderly friend of ours had a similar ticket a few months ago and it took a lot of explaining to convince her to ignore them however the way I managed to get it across was to convince her that her money would be better with a charity than these crooked criminal scumbags.
What you could do is keep any correspondence that arrives (assuming they have taken a photo and realise the registration number error) and forward that to trading standards. There have been a few raids and seizures lately by TS and police and any evidence they are sent by members of the public will help.

In these special circumstances it might be worth getting in touch with Netto and telling them of the distress it's causing to your mother. If they have any heart they should drop this ridiculous and illegal penalty. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

bunnygirl007 Please try to prevent your mother from paying. She is being mugged by the parking company. She has nothing to fear. I know that it will be difficult to convince her.0

Thanks everyone for your replies - Mum has left it with me to pay on line. I'm happy to ignore it but she won't have it. If i thought there is no way they could trace her then I'd ignore and she would be none the wiser. however if they do trace it to her address and write she'll go mad at me and get totally stressed about it. Just wish i could find out if the attendant is likely to have taken a photo.
I don't live with her so I can't intercept her mail.0 -

If you do pay, I would then take this story to your local paper and shame Netto for employing such scum. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Could the OP of the above please explain when and how these raids occured, on whom and under what circumstances.

I expect it would take quite a while before they realised their error. They would have had to send an invoice to the other driver, assuming number valid, they would appeal as they were not there. PPC says pay up anyway, driver says get stuffed (or something similar) meanwhile Mavis(her turn for the brain cell that week) says lets try another number (extra £2.50 from dvla) boss says either good idea or forget it. This could be weeks down the line and if they send to you and you just ignore it then they've just lost a further £2.50 and the cost of all the wasted paperwork.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Hi - can anyone help me...
I received two parking tickets from Thurrock Moto Services (just off the M25).
The tickets are from a private firm and I wasn't in the car, my boyfriend was driving.
I used the letter templates given on the private parking tickets page.
I have now received a letter saying...
As I have shown no willingness to provide the details of the driver, they are unable to take the case out of my name. If I refuse to tell them the driver, they assume that me or the driver in question are systematically abusing car parking facilities and the charge remains active.
The company has a phone number but as far as I can work out it's an answer phone only, they don't have a fax number so I can't send my replies to them quickly and so far I have sent 4 letters and it's costing me in stamps every time.
Each letter they send me is a basic template - not even addressed to me, just Dear Madam.
I'm not planning on paying these tickets - I'm just not sure what to do next??? ANY IDEAS??0
