Are you sure? Calmed down now, and found the ticket. It is National Clamps, and their website makes scary reading. mentions bailliffs:eek:
    Should we just ignore it?
Bailiffs can only be appointed by a court in the very, very unlikely event the case goes to court, and your lose. As I said in another thread these threats almost amount to demanding money with menaces.

    So just ignore.

  • Hey guys, need some advice!

Received a 'Parking Charge Notice' a few days ago for someone staying for 3 hours at a moto service when you have to pay if you stay for anything over 2. I am not willing to say who was driving at the time, but it wasn't the registered keeper of the vehicle so a letter has been sent to the issuer of the fine, explaining that the registrar of the vehicle was not driving at the time therefore the fine WILL NOT be paid. They apparently have photographic evidence, but it will not prove that the registrar of the vehicle was driving at the time, as he was not.

The issuer of the fine was CP Plus Limited... what should I do guys, very hacked off and don't have the money to pay this ridiculous fine of £80!

Read the other threads on here - you haven't got a fine, so you don't need to find £80. Don't contact them any further, and ignore all their rubbish scam letters.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • I've had a good look through, just wanted some reassurance! I'll pop back a month down the line and let you know how we get on, thanks a lot pal!

    Best,
    Matt

. Mind you after learning that so-called respectable solicitors have been mixed up in Boiler Room scams (a Leeds solicitor) and in a pyramid scheme in Bristol, nothing would surprise me.

@trisontana: just out of interest, which 'respectable solicitors' were they?

The Leeds solicitors were Fox Hayes

And the Bristol solicitor who said that the pyramid scheme was not illegal was Patrick Selley.

As a follow-up to the news article about the pyramid scheme, five women were arrested a few months ago for being involved in it. So it looks as though the solicitor was wrong in saying the scheme was legit.

We have a Parking fine issue by Excel Parking Services whilst at Parc Tawe, Swansea. The fine is for £100 as we overstayed our welcome by two hours (allowed 3 free), although they say they are kind enough to reduce this to £60!!! They have a camera entry/exit number plate recognition system and have stated in their letters that there are numerous signs, however, I can't actually remember seeing any so am just about to make another trip to have a look.

The thing is we didn't even leave the complex. We spent all of our time visiting or shopping at the retail stores in the complex, then took the kids to see a film at the Odeon. My problem is that the Odeon ticket is the only receipt I now have for that day.

I have adapted the template "refuse to pay letter", but wondered if it would also be worth sending a copy to the land owners and retail store themselves?

For a start this is not a "fine", just an invoice. If you have read the preceding posts you would have realised that the best advice is to just ignore them and they will go away. Don't bother to "appeal" or send them your cinema ticket. They have not suffered any material loss and have no grounds to take you to the Civil Court. Even if they had suffered any loss, that £100 they are demanding is illegal because it bears no relation to their true loss. The sooner these scamsters are put out of business the better.

Cheers trisontana. I had just added the peice "I have adapted the template "refuse to pay letter", but wondered if it would also be worth sending a copy to the land owners and retail store themselves?" as you posted.

So, I shouldn't even bother sending this letter then?

Don't bother. Communicating with them only encourages them. Just think of them as a hornet's nest. If you poke it with a stick they will come after you. If you ignore it they will leave you alone.
