  • Hi Oopsadaisy, I was passing the place so popped in for a quick look. So didn't really waste my time. Since being new to the whole Private Parking Tickets, the letters can be a bit of a pain and a couple of friends who I've asked have said best to pay, and I'm saying "But the tinternet said...", so you can appreciate why I'm maybe being over cautious. Have you recevied one of these yourself in the past? Am I likely to get more letters after the "Final Reminder"?

    Thanks

supersave....read the sticky or the links on some posters sig.....I appreciate your concern but truly, truly, truly, truly there is nothing needed other than ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore.

    Really it's that simple.

You could not ask or even think of a question wrt PPCs that has not already been asked [and answered] hundreds [probably thousands for many of them] of times...the answer invariably being ignore, ignore, ignore some more.

So really, ignore everything from PPCs....yes ignore it. Really, ignore it. No seriously, ignore it.

    Have I mentioned ignoring it??

It is not a FINE.. a fine is enforceable for a statutory offence.

A private parking ticket is an INVOICE.

    IGNORE IT.

Forget about the Oldham case it is not relevant. It does not set any form of precedent. There was evidence on balance of probability that the person who claimed he was not the driver was in fact the driver.
Do Parking Eye have any such evidence against you ..NO.

    IGNORE them
IGNORE the debt collection agency ..who have no powers at all.
File it all under B as in Bin.
I got two of these start of November.
I got a Parking letter , a debt collection letter , a letter of intended legal action (from Solicitors .oooo scary NOT) and 1 month ago a FINAL warning which said they would "refer the matter in 7 days" ..hmm nothing since ...wonder why ???
IGNORE all letters ..you may get more as you actually contacted them but still IGNORE them all .UNLESS you by a miracle get served with real County Court papers ...winning the lottery is more likely.

Saversave and dharam, Dont read the invoices or the letters they spout utter tosh! They have one purpose to scare you in to paying.

Lets put it simply like this, I put a sign up on my garden gate saying you can walk on my path, however if you step on the cracks you will owe me £50, if you step on the lawn you will owe me £50, if you scare the cat you owe me £50. if these charges are not paid within 14 days you then owe me £100.

    Now would you pay me?

If you didn't I could go to county court and issue a summons requesting you pay me £100. Anyone can do that. The difficulty comes when I have to convince a judge that it was you who walked on me crack! You agreed to the contract, it is not a penalty. Now how far do you think a Judge would let that go???

We would see between here, CAG, and Pepipoo hundreds of county court cases a week if they thought they had a chance.

Spouting the Stephen Thomas case is a measure of their desperation. That case was either a set up or Stephen Thomas was one sandwich short of a picnic.

you probably have 00.01% chance of being taken to court, and if you did probably 10% chance of losing. I ain't great at maths but 10% of 00.01% seems a good reason to hold on to your money!

Now as I think oopsadaisy says "ignore them"

We have seen quite a few workers who have been invoiced. However I would assume it would just be a matter of the company ringing the PPC. They could also have a list of workers reg No's.

I assumed you meant "Define" and not "divine" unless you are talking about Morrison's Vatican branch!;)
  • Hi guys I am in need of a little help and advice - I have been advised by another site to come onto here as you are the experts. I do receive Martins emails and have browsed occasionally when the boots sale has been on.

My OH has a parking ticken from Civil Enforcement Limited - This was sent to us because we were in Birstall complex Leeds (for those that know it) and had parked at Kentucky Fried Chicken and went for a meal at Bella Italia - we undertood all the restaurants shared the car parking as they are all next to each other and some have 3/4 restaurants per car park. We did not see any parking restrictions as it was dark. We parked there as our car is quite large and bella italia was full and it is hard to manouvre your car around that car park but we did try and find a space first

I rang today to find out why we had this ticket and they said we had outstayed the 75 mins limit - I said I had not seen any signs and we were in a restaurant having a meal - we had not parked the car and gone over the main road to the shopping complex like they say some do - that is why this new restriction is in place

They say we were there from 19.26 until 21.10 which is probably right as we had a meal

On reading this thread you are saying it is not enforceable as only the police and local authority can hand out tickets? Is this still the same?

Also there is mention of the car parking "finers" can charge if they are a member of the British Parking Association BPA - in that thread I read it says they can charge £75 which is what we are being charged and if we dont pay it - it will be £150

The car is not registered to my OH - it is owned by our Company - I know he will want to pay it because he wont want the hassle but I fully agree paying a fine if you have comitted it albeing unknowingly but I also dont want to pay it because we may be ripped off

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and now I am registered on here I may be able to help others in other areas.
