I thought we had stopped receiving their letters now we have received a begging letter for £50. I've forgotten how high we got, about £120, now getting discount letters for late payment. Wonder when they'll owe me...

    Sad isn't it:p

It could happen if the person ticketing the vehicle wrote the number plate down wrong.

Yes, there are some books of tickets that are just that and nothing more. Landowners buy a batch of them from a PPC and stick them on cars whenever they fancy.

If anyone is mug enough to actually just pay up on one of these handwritten pieces of rubbish then the PPC has made some easy money and I think the landowner gets a tenner or something. But there are never any follow-up letters.

There are ads on t'internet advertising DIY parking tickets.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I gather from your question you have had the nice sticky and are awaiting to see if the follow up arrives?

If it was a proper debt they have six years in which they can pursue it!

I presume you ignored the sticky, and are hoping the letter chain does not start? As stated some of them are DIY and don't bother, others are persistent, and send the usual rubbish.

Whatever they send if they do, do as you did with the sticky and ignore it!

    Yes, really.

    No seriously.

    Yes that's right, ignore.

    No really, ignore.

    Honest it's true.

    Yes, it's outrageous.

Yes we know you're a nice person, but still ignore.

    Believe me, ignore.

yeah debt collection - no difference, ignore.

Why have the DVLA given my details out if the parking agency isn't legitimate?

I have now received a letter from Roxburghe Debt Collectors for £80.

    Should I still ignore this?

    Thanks!

Just keep ignoring. Unfortunately when you sign your car documents you give the DVLA permission to pass on details to third parties. Please don't call these companies "agencies". To give them that name gives them a legitimacy they don't deserve.
