And so my final notice from parking eye drops on the mat this morning. The £50 charge as now ceased you now have till the 10/2/11 to pay £80 or it will be £110 on the 11/2/11 !
" If you ignore this letter we will have no option but to instruct our Debt Collection Agency to secure immediate payment commencing, through our solicitors if required" BLA BLA etc.
"The consequences of not paying . and subsequent legal proceedings, are that you could receive a County Court Judgement and if you ignore that a bayliff will attend your address to remove goods"
"We are determined to protect the interests of our clients and their customers by managing their car parks ,as is legally right, so that they are free from parking abuse of this kind and fit for the intended purpose."
Yours faithfully,

Hi
Thanks to all, especially Crabman for all of the info provided regarding these private parking companies. You have given me the knowledge to IGNORE the money grabbing wotsits when I was just about to cave in and pay Debt Recovery PLus Ltd due to a very nasty sounding !st letter.
I parked, just before Xmas at a busy retail park in the evening, got the only space left in an area that was dark and not lit. Unknowingly parked in what should have been disabled space but in the dark did not see any signs at all. Shocked to find ticket on my car from UKPC. Pulled forward from space to find that the sign that was painted on the floor was all worn way apart from a small portion, not able to see this in the dark. I have been back there in daylight, there are no other disabled signs, no lighting and the disabled sign painted on the floor is all worn away.
They are ticketing you for parking in a space that is not at all properly signed and is impossible to see this in the dark. This is not right.
At least I know that I can ignore it all now. Many thanks.0 -
Don't forget that the blue-badge scheme to not apply to private car-parks anyway. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Hi all,
My wife was parked in a local supermarket.
There was no free "family" bays so she went to a normal bay.
Due to the way that the other car had parked she was forced to clip the white line with one wheel so she could still get our baby out of the car safely. The wheel was not over the line, just clipping it.
Where would we stand with regards to this?
Regards, Mark0 -

If you do want to write to somebody then write to the supermarket telling them you will not shop there again until they get rid of the parking company. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Where would you stand?
You could go and stand at the desk in the Supermarket and hand-deliver a letter of complaint for the attention of the Store Manager. The very idea that they are allowing a third party to send unlawful threatograms to paying customers' families is shocking to say the least.
Wait for the first threatogram letter to hit the doormat and then complain to the Supermarket in the strongest terms, how dare they allow their agents to harass you like that with such half-baked threats (assuming you got one of their fake PCNs)?
Do NOT say who was driving though, do not try to explain the cirmumstances and do not refer to getting any PCN on the car. That's why I say wait for the first letter then complain without mentioning any fake PCN or who 'got' it or why.
Just word it as a serious complaint from the registered keeper of the car - who is the one who will get those threatogram letters (and will have to just file and ignore them). There is no breach of contract with a keeper, they can only 'possibly' allege something against a driver - and the PPC have no clue who that was so it all goes nowhere. You do not have to tell them either as it's not a 'fine'.
And there's never been a Court case we know of, for a wheel on a white line in a Supermarket car park - what judge would see that as a breach of contract! Even if she had parked sideways across two 'parent and child' (LOL!) advisory bays without a child in the car there would be NO case to answer. This isn't a fine, there will be no CCJ, no effect on credit rating, no day in Court.
Tell the Supermarket that they have just lost your business for allowing this practice akin to a protection racket to take place in their name on their land. Tell them luckily you personally are fortunately aware that it's not a real fine and that you do not have to pay it - but you're shocked that they allow this practice. Watchdog outed this scam last year and it's been in the national newspapers in several articles by Martin Lewis - so ask why they are persisting in allowing such a company to harass their local customers? Are they clueless about the nature of the harassing letters that this company send out - effectively in their name - and are they clueless about the unenforceability of these pointless alleged fines? And the effect on repeat business?
As for the PPC ignore them and then ignore their pet debt collector. Tis easy, I've done it!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Why do we bother?????Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I guess we bother because (allegedly) a sad 65% of people are mug enough to pay these invoices.
What is wrong with the average person, to think that a piece of paper, a mere flyer on their windscreen in a private car park is a PCN just because it's a fairly bad copy of a PCN.
Why are the British not more questioning, surely that many don't fall for phishing emails too?
Why is people's first reaction here often 'what should I do, I am scared, shall I appeal?' when quite clearly the question should be 'how dare they, who are these people, who can I complain to about this rubbish making out that it's a legitimate fine?'
There are not many countries where this cowboy 'industry' would last 5 minutes surely?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ooh - this must be my 4th letter from control account about a charge from Euro Car Parks back in August. It has been passed to the legal department who have deemed the case 'viable for litigation'. Although the previous amount plus administration charges is £125 (or something like that - I forget......), they want to reduce costs to their client and will accept £90 as full and final payment.
I can't remember the other jargon, but we'll see whether this is now my last letter. Now, where's my chequebookSealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0
