  • Hi there

I am new to this site but would like some advice please. I received a parking ticket through the post from excel for £60. I appealed against it but have received reply basically saying "sorry for your predicament but tough". I have read a couple of the posts, which advise not to appeal, but its too late for me. Should I now pay, or ignore letter.

    Many thanks
  • Ignore.
Better had you not contacted them as they never accept appeals.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

To all newbies who come through first on this discussion thread via Martin's article, did you know there is a whole forum board of current threads on this generic scam? Here you go:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

The stickies (top threads by Crabman) tell you everything you need to know, with pics of all the scary threatening letters that you will receive, as well as info about the legality of these bogus tickets and a link to a Watchdog programme last year with clear advice from a lawyer.

IGNORE the company and their pet debt collector. Read up on this on the board link above. It does not matter if you have already been taken in enough to appeal, just never bother next time unless it's a real ticket. Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police/Council/Transport for London.

    Errr...NO!

Haven't you already posted this recently and got answers/links already? It is EASY, just IGNORE!

Did you click on the link I gave in my post 2 above yours? Have you read up about this generic scam, watched the Watchdog clip, seen the scary debt collector letters etc? If not then click on that link and learn about this rip-off.

Complain in writing, in the strongest, angry terms to the Store Manager(s) at the retail site - as they are in breach of the DDA by disadvantaging a disabled person who is simply making use of their disabled bay provisions.

The Blue badge scheme does NOT apply on private land even if a PPC pretends that it does (it makes it easier for them to prey on people that way - but it doesn't actually prove who can use the disabled bay provision). For example, someone is covered by the DDA (Equality Act now) from the very moment of diagnosis of a long-term debilitating condition, so they are LEGALLY allowed to use a private disabled bay on the way home from the Hospital if they want to - and they would not have a Blue Badge of course. These PPCs make it up as they go along but you were entitled to park there.

Get angry, complain - but not to the private parking co., do not appeal, do not contact them as it's none of their business quite honestly. There is no fine.
