  • OK, received a ticket last night which I am incensed about.

Rough background, just started new job in Manchester, travelling from Crawley to Manchester on a 4on/4off basis. Expenses paid in arrears so stretching finances as it is!

Last night finished work at 1830 (corroborated by a colleague) and headed to Didsbury to grab some food. Journey indicated as taking 14 minutes by sat nav, I estimate a bit longer due to traffic at that time.

Found a P&D car park next to where I was planning on ordering some take out. Had no change on me apart from a fiver. Checked to see the parking payment period ending time (2000) then headed to the food place to order and get some change for the car park.

By the time that I had placed my order and got change, I had been issued with a Parking Charge Notice for £70.

There had been no persons or vehicles around when I parked that were obviously belonging to a parking company otherwise I would have advised them that I was off to get change. Can only think they were hiding in plain clothes somewhere ready to pounce.

The other thing that I noticed is that according to the PCN, the car was first seen in the car park at 1840, a physical impossibility and that the ticket was allegedly issued ten minutes later. Whilst I do not dispute the time the ticket was issued, there can be no way that my car was first in the car park at that time!

Your thoughts, comments & suggestions appreciated!
  • Was this a private parking company? If so what is their name?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

    My thoughts are:

Parking charge notice = unenforceable ticket and it should be completely ignored, they will not take you to court!

The only enforceable tickets for parking are from a council or the police.

Hope you enjoyed your food ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Sorry, didn't put that! It is a private company, Stop Illegal Parking. Address is a PO BOX in Manchester.

LOL that is a new one for me, really their name is illegal as parking is not against the law in car parks ;) the advice is the same for all ppc's though - IGNORE COMPLETELY

The important thing here is, you didn't answer whether the grub was nice at the takeaway, people need answers to such questions ;)

  • My apologies Taff,

The food was lovely! Especially as it was paid for by the company, and had been reduced in price by a voucher from this very website! :money:

What sort of name is that? Parking on private land is not an "illegal" act, as no law of the land has been broken.

    Car is my own car

Nothing to worry about then, all you will get are some threatening letters from bogus debt collectors and solicitors, that should be filed away and ignored.
