Hi there forum readers
The background to my question is:
I've been issued with a PCN for £60 by a high street supermarket's car park firm. They say I have until the 17 Aug 2010 to pay up. I was not the driver at the time of the offence and when I requested photographic evidence of the driver, all I received back was
1) enlarged 'evidence' of my car front and back registration plates.
2) a letter saying "as the registered keeper, you are required by law to know the whereabouts of your vehicle and in whose responsibility you leave your vehicle while not driving it yourself"
3) and "the site is monitored by ANPR cameras, which are designed to take photographs of vehicles entering and exiting the car park. As such our camera system does not detect whom the driver is"
My question is:
I've read too late the information on this site, about not saying that you're appealing where instead you're suppose to say that you're refusing to pay.
So does this mean that when I spoke on the phone requesting what is their appeals procedure and verbally confirmed my name, address and the PCN number, have I unknowingly admitted that the PCN is correct?
And is it too late, to send off the 'I wasn't driving letter' that Martin has provided on this site?
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks
Zoe
Follow the advice of Coupon-mad, ignore ignore ignore, if you get a phone call off a "solicitor" tell them you are recording the call, as the fees (not a fine if they call it a fine they are breaking the law), are far in excess of any proven loss ergo they are unfair, and, any further telephone contact will be classed as harrasment. Hopefully you didn't give them your phone number.0 -
Perky should become a comedian with quips like "Customer Delight" at getting one of his dubious Invoices, better yet he should crawl back under a bridge to await the three billy goats gruff singing "I'm a troll foll de roll"0

ANPR cameras often make mistakes and cannot prove you left the car park and returned later. Even if their begging letters had validity, they still would not win in court. Its like someone trying to rob you with a toy gun, laugh and ignore.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

The really daft thing about those ANPR cameras is that they wouldn't know if a completely different driver returned later in the same car - they just see the car (except in those NCP car parks with the new cameras, they'll just see Perky masks!).
So conversely, in a 2 car family you could return within 2 hours without getting any ticket, as long as you just used your OH's car the second time. Daft, stupid, worthless cameras. When will the Supermarkets learn they do not need those big brother parasites carrying out a protection racket on their land?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi again forum members
I would like to publicly thank:CouponMad for the 'mega post' content - very informative and educationalYour advice and suggestions have helped me (and I'm sure other readers in a similar situation) in seeing this 'PCN' for what it really is.
BroomsgroveBarry for the information on ANPR cameras
RobRedz for the information on it being a fee NOT a fine
Sir Roger deLodger information on PCNs can only officially come from councils
LucyLucky's information on no need to be concerned in anyway about any future letters you may receive
OopsADaisy summing up this long thread postings (this post is number 1812) in two words which are Private = Ignore
When it's your first and you're not aware of the real PCN law, it is a bit of an anxious moment, I can tell ya. To think, I was about to pay online and by typing in their website address, information on the parking firm in question and others came up showing the false PCN success stories etc and as a result has saved me £60.
Please accept this virtual drink on me.
Gosh where we all be without the internet and forums?
