Don't you think it is an infringement on human rights that a private company like that can apply to the DVLA (Government Body) and pay an amount of money and get all your details from the registration number.

We might well think so but in the end its all about money. They get £6,000,000 out of selling our details so they're not going to give up anytime soon.

  • Hi there

Could anyone tell me whether or not I have a case NOT to pay a parking ticket received from a private car park when they stated that my car was a certain colour when it is not, it is a completely different colour?

    Thanks,

    Caz

For a non council ticket, by which I mean one issued by a Private Parking Company I can't think of many reasons at all to pay it. Usually the company gives you many reason to have the prosecuted..
I have to add that sometimes, extremely rarely, a Private ticket may be enforceable but that is extremely rare indeed.

My daughter got a parking ticket for parking in a railway car park run by Apcoa. Now the ticket should have been £2.60 for the weekend and she forgot to put one on as she was late for the train. Anyway she had a threatening letter from a debt recovery company 2 weeks ago asking for £190.00. So she sent one of the template letters from here and now she has a letter threatening court action and saying it will be another £140.00. I though I read onhere that companies can only take you to court for the amount it cost them for you to park there i,e, £2.60. Is so how do we proceed.?

What a pity she contacted them at all, tell her next time to just ignore them. This advice does not include council/police tickets. However she can still ignore them its just that they will send even more letters/threats etc.

She only contacted them in the hope they would back off. So should she ignore the threat of a ccj? Thanks
  • Hi folks,

I recently received an invoice from TPS Parking Solutions LTD.
I dont want to pay, but the last thing I want is people turning up to the door wanting money or going to court.

I have read this forum and the general consensus is to ignore the letters being sent.

I did over stay at the car park over an hour. Im unsure whether or not I went into the Halfords or Argos that was at the car park during this period.

I had no idea this car park had a stay time of only 1 hour.

I could write a letter stating that I was not the driver, but I dont want to go to court and watch me go in and out the car on cctv.

What is the best solution anyone can supply?

    Many Thanks.

You really should start your own thread, because your post is easy to miss otherwise.

Just read some of the other threads and relax.

The template letter, although well meaning, is a nonsense. It simply tells them they have live bait dangling on the line and they can keep on pestering for payment.

Ignore from now on and enjoy the rest of your life. These scammers are scumbags and just want your hard earned money.
