Hi, I posted on here a few weeks ago after receiving the first letter from Parking Eye. I have since followed the advice given here and ignored and have now just received the 3rd letter which was from CSCS collection service. Will this be the last one, other posters on here seem to have had just the 3 letters - anyone received any more than 3?

No more, according to the sticky about these letters, I think that will be your lot!

  • I have just received a demand for £80 from a company called ParkingEye having parked on a private car park. No humans involved, just cctv and a payment meter. I paid for 4 hours, departed in three, but here's the rub. The machine required my vehicle licence number and I reckon I messed that entry up in some minor way. My assumption is that in the electronic world the entry/exit camera couldn't find a perfect match on the machine and issued the ticket, Seems a trifle harsh for being a rotten typist, Am I liable. I don't intend paying ?????

They might think you are liable but you're not. You've paid your money, they actually gained 25% because you left early so just ignore them, there's nowt they can do even if it went to court , which it won't.

It would be near impossible for them to win a defended court case against you - take a look at the sticky thread on the board "What to Expect" as we have Parking Eye listed there so you know what sort of letters will come through and when they'll give up and leave you alone.

In an ideal world it would be worth contacting them to let them know about the simple error and they would agree that it was a simple error. However, the people at the PPCs are only after your money - they don't care about keeping car parks flowing or making sure people don't overstay - they want cash, lots of it, and if they think you are scared of them or accept their authority, they'll reject your appeal and threaten you to get your money. This is why not contacting them at all is the strategy which works best.

Here is the details of the BPA Points Scheme.

I can't see what good this is going to do when so many PPCs are not members. And for those who are members the "points" only last for 12 months.

As for not being able to access the DVLA database. So what? Clamping companies don't need that information to extort money from motorists.

As I said above, a worthless scheme by a toothless organization.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Doubtless the BPA will alter the guidelines so as not to lose (all) its members............?
  • Good News folks for anyone else caught by Parking Eye in Aldi Southampton(or potentially elsewhere if you get your detective hats on). I got one of there pretend tickets and when I went to check the signage brand new signs had mysteriously appeared in the time since I had parked there...however this is almost irrelevant now as the new signs if I am not mistaken are unlawful as in there o-so carefully written small print at the bottom of each sign they have messed up and written "Penalty Ticket Information" as it is not a penalty ticket just an invitation to pay up on a matter of contract law! I have them on a couple of other points however this is probably the most helpful to anyone in the same situation as me. Having read about Parking Eye I dont remain hopeful that they will roll over easily but at least I have ground to stand on now should they somehow try and claim the signs were there all along(which they werent...not even a partially sighted person could miss the now multiple brand new vibrant yellow signs that have conveniently appeared!) I shall obv update if this is a success!

Don't know what you've read about Parking Eye but it obviously wasn't on this forum. Parking Eye always "roll over", as you put it, after the intended victim has ignored three letters. They have never gone anywhere near a court. Even by PPC standards they are useless.
  • Ah right that is good news then...yes to be fair the info I found on Parking Eye was on other sites. I think Ive got a fairly strong case...Im not going for the ignore tactic as I am so infuriated with them that the urge to point out all there flaws and slip-ups is too great to ignore!

Why waste the time, they won't take any notice and you'll just waste phone calls or stamps. Ignoring is the only certain way.
