    Hi all,

Wanted some advice on stopping on private land. I was on a private road outside a royal mail depot office and I stopped for 30 seconds to a minute to let the wife jump out and get a letter. I as in the car at all times yet I recieved a charge notice nearly 2 months later saying that I had parked on private property and that I was liable to a 60 pound fine.

Any ideas as to how I should proceed with this? Do they ahve any right to charge (and get) the money?

    Thanks

    Hi, welcome to MSE! :T

Just read some of these threads which are about private parking tickets (in your case, ignore any threads which are about real Council fine cases):

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=163

In particular, read the sticky threads near the top 'IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING' which explains why these fake private PCNs are not enforceable and 'PPC letters: what to expect' which shows you the rubbish letters they will send to you.

Then go on to read other people's threads until you are confident enough to realise that this is a scam - if it's a private parking charge issued by a private parking company (not on behalf of the Council).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I tested the CCTV thingie at the local Sainsburys today (run by Euro Car-Parks), went in to get some bits at around 10am and came back 2 and a bit hours later to get some more things (cos Tesco had run out). The rules are 2 hours free parking and no return within 2 hours, both I complied with but I shall wait and see if they do their usual "we saw you enter in at 10am, but exit at 12:45, that is longer than allowed, here have an invoice".

Spire Enforcement from Salisbury by any chance? (The company clamping and invoicing people for a piece of private land owned by network rail pretty much next to the mail depot without a valid contract in place)
  • The company is not in salisbury - it is PMSL Parking with a PO Box in Rottesford, Notts. The bit of private road they are managing (about 50 yards long between 2 public roads) is in Hertfordshire so not sure how they got involved in that. read about ignoring them just wanted to check since most of the other posts are about supermarkets.
    Thanks for the advice

Putting NG13 0LD into Google maps shows the address to be in Station Street Bottesford. The satellite view seems to show a small industrial unit right next to the railway line.

I recieved a parking fine for parking at a station-Refuted the ticket with a reasonable argument that Ok I wasn't parked in a bay because they were all taken but I wasn't causing an obstruction ( sent pics to prove this )Got a reply this morning that after further investigation the matter was being dropped-result !

Congratulations, will you please get me a lottery ticket this week.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • I have received an invoice from National Parking Control, P.O BOX 404. M/CR M15 4XH.

I was not the driver at the time and when i opened the letter i felt exacly how they want you to feel, so i was hoping for some feedback and to make me feel a little less worried.

The invoice says its for non display of a permitt, i am convinced to egnore all letters etc as advised, but i have struggled to find any information about this company or anyone who has had this problem.

Can anyone help please and try to put my mind at rest

    thank you
