I was just wondering, is there ever an instance where you would recommend just paying the fine? Or is it always best to just let it go away?
The one thing that seems to pop up is if you were driving someone else's car, then they will get the threatening letters. If they are likely to be taken in by the threats (perhaps they're elderly, vulnerable, or not "streetwise" so to speak) - and would be easily worried or distressed when they get a letter threatening court action, big fine, bailiffs, car being towed away, bad credit rating - then paying up saves them the hassle and you the hassle of trying to convince them to ignore it and getting aggro off them.
This is probably the only circumstances ever under which a Private Parking Company charge should be paid.0 -
I've been reading through the thread and it has some great advice, cheers guys.

It's not a "fine". To call it that legitimises the whole scam. It's an unenforceable invoice. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Yeah, I much prefer unenforceable invoice, cheers.
I'll just clarify my situation to be sure, I'd parked outside over the lines on the space, because the person to my right had straddled two spaces and the rest of the car park was full. When I got back the car to my right had gone and left me looking like I'd parked like an idiot, and I had an unenforceable invoice () stuck to my windscreen. I looked around for a sign and there was nothing saying that penalties were in operation for parking like an idiot or anything which immediately made me question whether I could be fined. A quick Google lead me here and opened my eyes to the truth!

Just passed a batch of letters from a DCA to our finance team cancelling their action and passing the unenforcable amounts back to the original car park bullies. I must find out what they did. Or did they just back down as soon as they realised that we have a large legal team who would love to be doing something other than housing and lease work. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Private = ignore.
Can't be any simpler than that.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -

please can someone help - got the letter today from Central Ticketing saying that my 'appeal' has been unsuccessful - it took them well over 2 months to come back to me so assumed it had been forgotten. It does state on the ticket 'please allow 28 days for a response'. I am not going to pay but my boyfriend is really worried that I am going to get really upset when the letters start coming through with threats

Adding to anewman's comment above I am now firmly of the opinion that the so-called "appeals procedures" operated by PPC's is designed for one purpose - to elicit admissions about who was the driver at the time. I suspect that phone calls made by the DCA's are for the same purpose. For these reasons I strongly recommend that those who recieve either PPC, DCA's or their Solicitors letters ignore them and make absolutely no comment in response to any telephone calls from them.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
