It maybe that leaseplan already have a policy on how to deal with these "unpaid invoices", (eg. by filing them in the bin), so if you can talk to them and see should be your first line.
But if they treat these "notices" like normal parking fines and pay them in line with their policy, then yes, see if they will instead stop any correspondence betwen the scammer and themselves by asking them to treat any notice they receive about your car as if it were a NIP, when they will presumably pass on the lessee's details in answer to the NIP - or better (if you aren't the lessee, and to cut out you having the same problem with the lessee), see if they will accept your instructions to respond with your details as the car's keeper.
Then when you start to get correspondence you can ignore it in line with the standard advice on how to deal with these unpaid invoice merchants.0 -
A decent lease company will know all about these silly invoices.
Do not contact the parking co, but write and tell Leaseplan that you have one of these unenforceable invoices and that you are sure that they will not be paying and just ignoring it. Tell them that you regret you will not be able to remimburse them if they unwisely choose to pay a charge they are under no legal obligation to.Had I see a sign it would mean that I am entering into an agreement with the owner, and as I didn't pay for a permit I agree to pay their 'invoice'?
No. By that reasoning, if the sign had said you had to pay £10,000 it would somehow be just as valid as one that said £60.0 -
Hi
Having just followed the Martin sletters I am now in receipt of 3rd letter demanding that I provide them with the name of the driver at the time of alleged offense. Apparently they are threatening me being passed onto debt collecting agency.
The company in question is amusingly called Stop Ilegal Parking. Would like to now if there is any value in reporting them to the British Car Parking Association for harrassment. Or would this be adding more fuel to the fire?
Any help would be much appreciated0 -
I assume you are talking about the BPA (British Parking Association)? If so, then, no, there is no point.
What you need to understand is that the BPA is not a regulatory body. It is simply a trade association, which acts in the interests of its members. It has no interest whatsoever in the consumer/victims of PPCs at all.0 -

Yes it is the BPA, but what options do I have now?0 -

If it is a PPC then it is a scam and ignore all further correspondance. They can put you onto a debt collector but they have no powers to collect that so-called debt from you.
Martin's letter is a waste of time and by sending them a copy you have simply told them they have dangled bait and got a bite. Be prepared for 5 or 6 ever more hysterical letters before they give up and try to mug some other sucker."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -

I agree. Martin's letter is only any good for those who are made of stern enough stuff, and want to engage in a bit of PPC baiting. No good for anyone who's scared by their 'scary' letters.0 -
Anyone like to pass an opinion on this story?FOUR-YEAR-OLD Elliot Mckeown has reluctantly given up his fight for a parking space outside his home.
The youngster was given until April 10 to remove the toy car from the bike storage area at a housing development in Leith by the property management company which runs it.
Trinity Factors said it would have the little electric car removed if it was not taken out of the designated bicycle area at the Timberbush development by the given deadline as it was breaking the terms outlined in the property deeds.

I find it hard to believe that a factoring company on private property could do that much, even to a toy car?0 -
Barstewards and they think its a good life lesson to teach a 4 year old as he has to give it away. Whatever happened to compassion?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Or maybe you can spot the poor soul who never had the joy of a toy car when they were a kid?0
