Headlight bulb. Halfords or Poundland?

Hello
I'm fitting a headlight bulb (which has a code H4 or 472). (Highly annoying and fiddling to fit)
Poundland has them for £1 including a few smaller bulbs. The brand is "Lifetime cars"
Halfords charge a fair bit more
The question is, is the Poundland bulb good enough? I know it might not last as long, but will it be as good while it is working? It has E1 written on it, which I believe means it has been tested to European standards in Germany. But it was made in China..

halfords are way expensive on bulbs without a trade card
cant say either way on the poundland one..havent wasted alot if it is pants
ebay usualy have known brands for okay money ..something like a phillips or osram is a good brand0 -
Never had Poundland bulbs but had them out of Aldi and they've always been no bother. As Steveo rightly points out if the Poundland one is rubbish you've only lost a pound!#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

i always buy decent bulbs as i drive all over europe through the night, but if its just a runaround car i would go for the poundland one and buy 2, 1 as a spare0

Tesco Express have headlight bulbs at £3.50 (but it's a set of 10 for all bulbs on your vehicle) if you have one near you.
I'd buy a couple/more of the Poundland ones, as Halfords were charging about £20 per bulb when I recently asked for a price :eek:0 -
I just had to buy a headlight bulb at the weekend. Halfords are doing 2 for 1 on their brighter headlight bulbs. They're pricey but I have found them to be quite good - better than the standard ones.0

the op did mention it was fiddly to change the bulb. use the poundland bulb if you dont mind changing it again in a few months.
if it really is awkward to change i would suggest fitting a better bulb that will save you double fiddlyness, infact probably treble fiddlyness.
find a bulb from osram, philips, ring, hella or any other well known brand.
im currently using philips and have had a good bit of life from them so far....work permit granted!0 -
The poundland bulbs work and are better than nothing but the beam pattern i pretty awful, have had people flashing me as they are dazzled by the dipped beam esp on country roads (headlamps are auto leveling and problem stopped when changed to phillips) - only fitted it as an stop gap waiting for mail order phillips extreme to arrive.
Ok for around town runabout not much good for unlit roads due to poor beam pattern - but keep them in boot to get you home.
I normally fit the brighter bulbs but if it is a difficult change and you don't need brighter bulbs would just get normal ones (and a qulity brand) as they dont blow a frequently0 -
Forgot to mention if you don't need a bulb in a hurry then try getting quality branded ones off ebay cheapest i have found (and don't have easy access to a trade card)
Oh and the poundland ones don't seem to say they are UV filtered so they may not be safe to use on cars with plastic headlamp lenses - may not be much of a saving if they fog the plasting ang then you need new headlamps!0 -
