IMHO -- Based on my Experience -- Avoid Voucher Schemes Altogether in Present Retail Climate
Update on KINGFISHER GIFT VOUCHERS
Flogistics -- a Woolworhs Group company issues the KINGFISHER GIFT VOUCHERS (KGV's) Woolworths Group (and therefore Flogistics) is NOT in administration.
Woolworths PLC which owns UK stores IS in Administration.
Woolworths actually gave cash for them without any purchase, yesterday -- Christmas Eve.
They cannot give credit, so HAVE TO return cash.
Ask for store manager if any problems.
Neither Bent&Questionable (A KINGFISHER GROUP Company!!) nor Comet (Ex Kingfisher Group) will accept KGV's
I am now banned from all Woolworths stores! --I have an illegibly signed, by a 'manager', letter dated 15th December to this effect.
Only got it on Tue 22 Dec. - Bit pathetic really.
I just can't imagine that the Woolworths stores BAN will be changing my life all that much though.
Ho! Ho!
How did you get banned? :rotfl:0 -
Firstly happy christmas to all.....!!
Re Zavvi, I fail to really understand why vouchers cannot be redeemed.... money has been transferred.... goods are available.... not sure why they are not accepted...... I can understand if you were asking for cash back to some degree, but not for the goods in store.....
I have some zavvi vouchers too.... never again though. I never ever want another instore voucher.... they are a nightmare idea anyway......!!
Does anyone think that zavvi might be bought? If so would the vouchers then be valid again..... or do you think the best option is to just write in as per their website.....
Cheers.
MattThis might answer your question
. Customer Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have a Zavvi gift voucher, can I redeem it?
It is expected that all customers who purchased zavvi gift vouchers from zavvi stores from 27 November 2008 will receive a full refund in respect of the unredeemed value of the gift vouchers. Unfortunately, it is not possible for vouchers to be redeemed in stores.
All customers who have unredeemed vouchers acquired since 27 November 2008 should write to the Joint Administrators at the following address, quoting their voucher number(s), enclosing the original voucher(s) and quoting their full name and address for return correspondence:
zavvi Vouchers
c/o The Joint Administrators of zavvi Group
Ernst & Young LLP
100 Barbirolli Square
Manchester
M2 3EY
We recommend that customers keep a copy of vouchers for their records.
Regrettably, it will not be possible to refund vouchers acquired prior to 27 November 2008. Customers with unredeemed vouchers acquired prior to 27 November 2008 should write to the Joint Administrators at the above address, asking for their claim to be registered as an unsecured claim.
Please note, due to the large volumes of vouchers that are currently outstanding it is not possible to discuss individual customer queries in person at this stage.Titch0 -

I don't understand the voucher business either.
As for being bought out i'd hope they will but i don't think people will be prepared to buy a record shop as the online businesses for media do better as they can sell at a lower price.

I have over £300 of Zavvi vouchers which I collected over the year so that I could buy the kids a PS3 during Christmas.
I went in at 10:30 am on Christmas Eve to buy it but was told that I couldn't use them.
I was gutted and spoke to the manager who just said sorry and even got me to speak to the guy from Ernst & Young (the administrators) who wasn't helpful at all.
What made it worse was that had I been in 20 minutes earlier, they would have accepted them.
Most of the vouchers were bought before 27th November so I am totally lost as to what action I can take.
Obviously my kids have had a miserable Xmas day.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks0 -
Is there anyone who understands and can explain the legalities of vouchers?
I too have purchased a number of Zavvi gift vouchers (Before 27th Nov) and given them to friends and family for presents this Christmas.
I have also read the statement on Zavvis website regarding what to do for vouchers bought before and after 27th Nov.
A Zavvi store has confirmed that if I had purchased goods (Lets say to the value of £30), I would be entitled to an exchange for other goods instore to the value of £30. So, If I have purchased a gift voucher for £30 (I my eyes a plastic card loaded with a £30 prepaid amount) why can I not use this in exchange for goods value of £30?
I like many have supported Zavvi from launch and this is how we get treated.
PS, my thoughts go out to all the staff of Zavvi who too may get a bum deal for their loyalty0 -
I wonder if it is worth ringing someone at Ernst&Young and asking them to clarify why the difference for vouchers bought before and after 27/110

you got a bargain there as woolies aren't part of kingfisher and havent been since 2001
I work for Woolworths and we can accept them, as they are just the older version of our current ones, we can still accept them as a goodwill gesture.Freebies - Savvy Shopping Bag, Energy Saving Plug, Hugo Boss SampleWinnings - Dvd The Road sold on Ebay for a tenner:j0 -
Interesting article... I wonder if there will be any changes to the vouchers issues in the next couple of days...

My husband had been hoarding a small amount in Kingfisher vouchers and I tried to spend them in Woolies on 27th Dec and was refused - the girl said they should be fine in B&Q so I tried them there yesterday and of course they were refused there too. If only I'd read the 17th Dec weekly tip in more detail (but in my defence, they were hubby's vouchers and I wasn't aware of their existence at the time).0

I wonder how many people did just go into Zavvi, take the products and walked out throwing the voucher at the staff?0
