Gift Voucher Warning: And Woolworths vouchers special note

Hi everyone
Years ago I used to work in Superdrug and they were part of the Kingfisher group then, it was about 10 years ago so not sure now but it might be worth checking out??
Sorry if this has already been mentioned?
There not anymore. The kingfisher group split up in 2001. They have continued to sell kingfisher vouchers but these were only accepted in Woolworths, B&Q and Comet after the kingfisher group split. B&Q and Comet will not longer accept them. I guess the vouchers must have been run by Woolworths so the other companies will have stopped accepting them as they are not likely to get their money from Woolworths.0 -
just realised I have a £10 kingfisher one doesnt mention superdrug on it:money: <<<< MY HERO!0

I had £60 in kingfisher vouchers and just spent £5 in the Elephant & Castle Woolworths. I handed over the vouchers (in £10s and £5s) and the cashier gave me the change in £s, no quibbles.

Hi, just saw on the internet that
"Administrators refused to confirm reports that they are set to announce the closure of all British Woolworths stores by January 4."
http://money.uk.msn.com/investing/news/article.aspx?cp-documentid=11983259
going to start shutting stores from december 27th!_Jen_0 -
As announced today, woolies will start closing their stores from 27th December. 200 stores on 30th Dec, 200 on 2nd Jan and finally 200 on 5th Jan. If you have any vouchers spend them now. Once the stores start to close you will have to get in touch with the administrators to see about a refund. All refunds have now been stopped in store, only exchanges are being approved. Hope this helps.0

There are two different kinds of Kingfisher voucher - one with three companies on the left hand side (B&Q, Woolworths, and Comet), and one with five (B&Q, Woolworths, Comet, Big W, and one other)
Anyway, at the B&Q where I work (Poole store) we have been told that we can accept the ones with five companies on the left of the voucher, but not the ones with only three companies on the left. The reason for this is that Woolworths essentially underwrote the voucher scheme for the ones we don't accept anymore.0 -

HI, Halfords is nothing to do with Woolworths.
Woolworths was part of kingfisher,so was comet. They demerged quite some time ago.
That is why the Kingfisher vouchers are or have run out.
However if there is no expiry date on them they may have to take them, certainly for up to 6years or risk breach of contract.
B&Q are still part of kingfisher,so B&Q must accept them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this as i held shares in kingfisher when comet and woolies were in that group.also i worked for B&Q

cos B&Q are still part of KINGFISHER! THIS NEEDS A LEGAL CHALLENGE! also screwfix are in Kingfisher.0 -
have never heard of love2shop... presumably if they themselves went under your vouchers would not be accepted by the shops
I have heard of them, via being given some by the Post Office for testing the postal service around my area.
You are right, if they went bust they would not be able to reimburse the stores that accepted them so the store would have to join the creditor's queue.0 -
We had over £200 of kingfisher vouchers from employer (so had also paid income tax on them) and were told couldn't use them in B & Q or Comet. So went to Woolies in a bid to recover some money ... was going to buy small electrical items to sell on ebay with the vouchers ( as I had already finished Christmas shopping) to try and recoup some of the money which seemed like a good idea only shelves were empty ... asked staff if I could cash them in who said I had to buy items to the value!! Ended up approaching a couple who had managed to find a £70 item and asking them to buy some vouchers from me which they kindly did and then bought a load of CDs that I wouldn't of normally bought and about £50 worth of batteries as they seemed like the only thing that could possibly be useful (lets hope the kids get lots of toys that need them for Christmas) If you have these vouchers be very quick get yourself to a woolies sooner rather than later or you will just lose your money ... we also have £600 of love to shop vouchers and will be trying to use them asap just in case. Read the comment about scaremongering but this is just reality people are losing out!0
