The next step up from bleach/barcarb mixture is a strong mixture of Caustic soda and a coarse brush. After this, use white shoe colour to get it brilliant white.
Were gloves and a mask because this stuff will burn you on contact. If this doesnt work, nothing but regrout will work.0 -
I have tried using grotbuster on the grout in our kitchen but it had practically no effect what so ever, I know a high pressure steamer would probably work but we can't find anyone we know who can loan us one. I've been debating bicarb of soda but don't know whether it would tarnish the polished porcelain tiles? Any ideas?
Many Thanks

OK I can't vouch for this personally as I've never tried it but...
The trainer-whitener that you can get - clean any grease off the tiles, apply the whitener and after a short while remove excess off the tiles.
I've heard it works, though I suspect it is only a short-term coverup.
Worth a go perhaps?0 -

I don't think that bicarbonate of soda would damage the tiles. Whether it would have any effect on the grot is another matter. It's good for removing smells, but I don't think it has much of a bleaching action. If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0

I also use bleach, I bought a plant sprayer for it & use regularly in the bathroom - the kitchen gets done when I get round to bringing the sprayer downstairs!0

Hi,
Bicarb in a thick paste is fine. Its the abrasive action you want. If you can find cheap bicarb containing toothpaste, I've found that works well. Apply it with a finger and then scrub with an old toothbrush. I've done this and it hasn't harmed the glaze on the tiles in the least. Brought 95% of my grout back to almost new.

Hi Nikkei
There is an older thread which should offer plenty of suggestions - cleaning grout . I'll merge your thread with that one later
