hi all - am back and think I have updated everything! Am still not sure I am getting all the payments - please if you make a payment post clearly the amount paid - not just the total left of the debt - then I can be sure it is added to our group total. Everyone is doing brilliantly - well done.
Welcome to our new members - good luck in your efforts. Keep posting to encourage each other.

And big thanks to Dragon for keeping an eye on things while I was away :A
  • hi mizmar & the dragon (and everyone else!)

thanks for adding me! This weekend i will sit down and post my total debt that i want to clear off and let you know.

Also, could anyone point me in the right direction of where to get these free scratchcard things from that i keep haring about on various threads  i plan on using them if they are free to build up some spare cash to pay towards my debts.

I am also working overtime at the moment while its avaliable, and doing slice the pie and quidco for any xmas purchases for cashback. Hopefully I am ont he way to being debt free in 2009!

I have tried several times to post on this , it goes into the ether, so this is the last try.

We will not be debt free by Dec 2009 but hopefully well on the way. We have two loans coming off one is July £160.95 a month and one in Dec £114.95. Then there is the car and the CC.

My plan is to double up the payment on the car in July. The £114.95 will then go againct the CC which is at 0% until August 2009. I will have to see if I can find another 0% deal or a low interest rate for the life of the balance.

Hopefully we will be debt free late in 2010...........

Our O/D which we has to run up when e unexpectedly moved should be clear by June 2009.

Could not make up my mind about the car, whether to save the dosh and pay it off when the two levels meet, or go the whole hog and double up the payments. Interest was front loaded so I guess doubling up the payments will make a difference?????? opinions please.

We have to be careful with savings, we are on HB and CTB and cannot have more than £6000 in savings, once we have paid off our debts I am going to put possibly £2500 each in cash ISA's. That way we can draw some of the interest and keep under the limit. I think we will be having a few slightly better holidays to use some of the cash.

Its been a hard slog....5 years in total....but we plodded, started off with over £30,000 of debt.

Good to see you Csarina! It could be worth checking with the car loan people and check whether you can make overpayments - I know we can't on ours without paying pnalties, also if we pay off early we will have to pay an extra £2,000!!!

I was wondering about this too, I will check although when I rang up to find out the settlement figure they quoted an amount about 600 less than the balance on the account., and cofirmed the amount by letter a couple of days later. Its with Black Horse.

The bank loan we have can be paid early, but its so near the end its not worth it now.........
