I need to hold back for a few days, make sure what bills are to go out, any payments cleared etc. I hope to be able to make another payment off the CC back end of next week though (and I really need to do it as the interest on it will be £53 this month!!)Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Happy Saturday fellow 2009er's. Just thought I'd pop by to say hi and see how we're getting on. I hope Mizmir is having a fab few days off and everyone else is nipping away at their debts.
The bad news is that I've not made any more payments to report, but the good news is that I've set a monthly budget for the next 4 months. I'm a bit of a spreadsheet girl and I have calculated that I should be able to clear all our Credit Card debt approx 6K by the 31/5/09.
This will only leave the car debt oustanding at present it's £3136 (14months x £224 payments) I had thought about transferring the car onto a 0% deal to, but decided to leave it as it is.
It's a tall order, but I'm setting my mini target to pay off 6K by 31/5/09. Finger's crossed I'll get there which will bring my overall DFD forward.Nearly debt free....at last Roll on July 20100 -
Go debtfree! It sounds like a good plan to me, Dr Dragon was wondering if we could afford to pay our car loan off (my parents want to send us a load of cash to help as Dr Dragon is unemployed at the moment), we looked into it and the fee they wanted for early closure was :eek::eek::eek::eek:, so we will keep nibbling away.
Have a great and cheap weekend everyone!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Debts: 3,400 ish on a CC, I have applied to have a loan to cover this, to try and reduce the interest repayments. But I really want to overpay, I have been OPing on my Credit card but the intrest rate is crippling. I was refused a 0% CC:mad:.
One major stumbling block is going to be my daughters orthadontal treatment.
But I really want to do it.
I have signed up pigsback (still trying to understand everything I can do there). Joined some survey sites, and entering comps.
I am doing the NSD, and the sealed pot challenge.
In the new year, I am going to join the monthly grocery challenge too. I am in awe of the live on 4K challenge, feel unable to do that at the moment. Mainly because of my daughters dental work. We are going for the consultation today.
On the plus I am nearly all done with Christmas shopping, and have really cut back in comparison to last year, when I didn't have a handle on my finance at all.
So here's to debt free in 2009!:o
Thanks for starting the thread!
Well, its gonna be impossible for me to do this! I have the quote for my daughters teeth, and it is mighty high! More than the debt, so overpaying the CC was going to be really difficult. So reluctantly I have taken a loan to clear the CC, which is in some ways foolish, but it does mean that I have regular payments and I know where I stand for budgeting and making sure I can pay for the dental work. If i hadn't I could frosee the dental bills going on the CC and making it all too unmanagable.
But i am not resting on my laurels, I have stuff on ebay, and I am obsessively checking the bids and watchers, doing online surveys, just claimed £4 so when I get that it will go in the teeth fund (which has a pretty good interest rate), and I have cut my food budget by 100 quid a month. First week of that this week and it has gone pretty Ok, I reckon I could cut it a bit more.
I need to find a jewler that will give a good price on some platinum rings too.
Good luck to you all with becoming debt free in 2009, but alas it won't be for me! But that doesnt mean I won't be making progress!Pay off as much as you can in 2012 challenge No. 64: 328.75/2,5000 -

Is this not being done on the NHS?
