Morning all,
Was up at 4.30 thanks to DH snoring for England, got stuck into sewing and before I knew it it was 7.20. Managed to do BM and WM. Got lamb chops out of freezer for DH's dinner, I'm having smoked Haddock and rocket salad. After eating meat for the last 2 days I need to get back to fish and salad.
I'll get DH to take me to Argos to return loads and re-buy them because of the drop in VAT, also today is the last day for £5 off £50 spend and £10 off £100. I make 4 purchases so I'll get £30 back.
It was hailstoning at 5am and covered the garden, it looked so pretty but it's turned to rain now, so will light the inglenook as soon as we get home.
REDRUBY, thank you.
TIRED MUM, Thanks also, DB's are doing ok.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. REDRUBY _party_0 -
Morning Chums well I am a happy bunny this morning . Uni went well, and my first essay about the Crimean War was accepted, so only two more to do. My next one will be about the rise and fall of the domestic servant in Victorian Times. They had quite a rotten time of it,no good old days for them.
My gorgeous DDs Shelley's birthday today she's 41 and its as cold today as it was on the day she was born, and snow is forecast. It was snowing like the devil in 1967 when she arrived, and again in December 1969 when her little sister appeared. I have craft this afternoon then I'm off round to Shelley's to give her some presents.Youngest DD came and put up my dekkies and tree for me yesterday so my sitting room is looking quite festive
Right I'm off for some coffee, cake and then may pop to the shops for a few bits.
<<hugs to those in need>> Hope everyone has a brilliant day

Morning everyone and congrats to Soapy on the new arrival. Woke up early to a milder day but it had been raining overnight. Just had neighbours visiting with two toddlers forgot how manic that can be. Hence later posting today. Have sponge in the oven and working on the mealplan, have phoned the house insurance seems to have hiked up this year so looking for a cheaper deal. Probably go to town tomorrow weather looks better can use my Mr T vouchers again and swap the BM in argos. Depsite it crashing and me wanting a Panny have to admit Morphy Richards Helpline was great and have offered me a new one just have to take the old one in and an authorisation number, so it would be mad not to. Typically OS must make do for now. Must try to get a few bits towards Christmas too so hopefully will find a few bargains. Hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm. xxVisa £[STRIKE]5063 [/STRIKE]now 0. Loan 1 €[STRIKE]4885[/STRIKE] now 0. Loan 2 €29,590 now €0 as of 22/02/2016 Mgage €55000/ €23,639 at 01/02/18

Happy Birthday Mr Redruby  hope you enjoy your day
update on Lesley. She had a very good day yesterday, had a scan because they thought the cancer had spread to her brain but it hadn't thankfully. More x rays and tests but all ok so far, as well as can be expected anyway.
Her special bed has arrived at her home and her partner is hopeful she will be allowed home by the weekend.
Might be able to see her later as we are going to Shrewsbury to collect a van for DHs work so if time will pop into the hospital.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I read a post where someone said they'd had one. Can whoever it was tell me a bit more please?0

It was Moneysaving Diva who posted about it in yesterday's daily thread so I'll add your post to todays daily where she'll see it.

Hi all  no snow here - it's perfect sunshine (freezing cold, but really sunny). Very tired after playing carcassonne 'til the small hours last night.
Dinner will be something with pasta I think. And possibly sausages if OH hasn't eaten them all in a sandwich for lunch.
Halight - sorry to hear about your job, hope it picks up for you soon.
Nea9v - I hate that too - by the time I start using the second pair, I normally need a prescription change!
Esse-girl - glad yesterday went okay
I've been proof-reading stuff all day and I want to cry. I *need* to stop now as it's driving me mad - there is more of my pen on this bit than text!specsappeal wrote: »Want to finish my third sock monkey today
I so can't get these right - I will post a piccy of my sock prawn later if I have time :rotfl: :rotfl: I might even stitch eyes on him..... to remind myself that any soft toys I try to make are likely to give children nightmares. I can just see it now - "when good needlework goes bad!" (hums ominous music)
This doesn't bode well for the chances of me altering my dress without making it look like the result of an illicit liason between a burlesque dancer and a lampshade... now where did I put the hot glue gun...:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Afternoon all,
Not quite as cold to-day but roads were still icy in places as I took DGS2 to school...got a couple of skids but nothing serious...went to renew my prescription and had to wait ages to see doctor, he reckons that I need to up dosage again so a bit disappointed at that but he says that with all hassle with Ulick's illness I need to so will be led by him, he is normally right although I would never admit that to him! Then went for petrol and had car washed, could hardly read numberplates, mud building up nicely again already.
Had lots of plans for 'free' morning as Ulick is in Day Hospital, but have only managed to light fire and put on a wash so far, need to leave in a minute to collect DGS2, get some bits in Penneys ( Primark), collect DGS1 and then collect Ulick...who said that retirement was fun, I wouldn't have time to work now!
Need to order heating oil later, can't afford to run out with a houseful over Christmas. Also need to make more mince pies, as DD4 found the others and there are 6 left...will freeze the next lot as soon as they are made!
Hugs to all in need or want, congratulations to all who are celebrating, welcome to any newbies

like the result of an illicit liason between a burlesque dancer and a lampshade....
Little bear is finally having a nap. I cannot turn my back for a second - he is up to all sorts. So, today I am going to (honest) clear the room next to the kitchen so that little bear can be put in there behind a gate so it is safe. Otherwise I will never get a chance to do anything. It will mean locks on doors to cupboards with bleach etc, but soonest started soonest finished.
However, before I get started on that I am going to get a casserole in the slow cooker for tea so that dear heart comes in to something warm. I was far too tizzied from little bear to remember to take out any meat so it will be bacon (cooking bacon) plus whatever vegetables I need to use up, plus barley, plus lentils, and lots of stuff like sage. I have a small pack of cooking bacon which I want to divide into tonight, tomorrow night (with the addition of tinned tomatoes) and freezer. Also I need to get the breadmaker on for my first attempt at wholemeal bread.
Hugs to all

Hi all
Fairly quick one from me - have the Dr arriving soon.
celyn - lovely to see you posting!
Halight - Sorry to hear your news, but am glad that you still have your job though.specsappeal!
tiredmum - Thank you for asking about Tristan. He is back in hospital for a few days.
taplady - thinking of you and Lesley
Ok, how do you guys get avatars that move and twinkle? The siggys I use for mine, all twinkle and move on the page in the comms I visit, but as an avatar they are static in here and I want twinkles!! (stamps her feet!)
Moanymoany (thank you for moving the post Pink!). If you go to Iceland, they do a range of roasts that you cook from frozen. They had pork there and a chicken one I believe. It comes in a foil container which you just pop into the oven. It tells you to baste half way through so we just put a bit of butter on the top. Can't remember how long it took to cook but it wasn't long and I would say it would generously feed a family of four - probably six.Mad cat is sulking cos it's too cold for her. I will have to put the fire on I think to stop her trying to rip all the furniture to peices! Have been flicking water at her to stop her but it just makes her hiss at me..
No idea what to have for tea though we have leftover turkey from the other day, so that will probably be the main componant. Bought Iceland frozen broccolli and not impressed - the tops go a bit mushy and the stalks stay hard. Very odd.
Ok, so I can't do short posts - sue me.. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Hope you all have a great day,to everyone
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0
