OS Daily Tuesday 2nd December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 2nd December. It is is an ‘over the garden fence’ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome; please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning peeps
I woke up at five past two and couldn`t get back to sleep so i decided to do a few chores instead. I`ve just gathered a huge pile of washing so the wm is now on, i didn`t think that it would need to go on today but it`s amazing what can be found lying around the house.
I put all the ingredients in the breadmaker last night and then forgot to set the timer so maybe it`s just as well that i woke up at daft o`clock
The dw has just finished so i shall be off to empty that shortly and also to peel some carrots for tonights tea - which will be sliced beef in gravy ( found recently which was a surprise as i didn`t know that we had it) jacket potatoes and veg, may even do yorkie puds too
Halight - sorry to hear about your job situation, it seems to be bad everywhere. At DH place of work there is hardly anyone left as so many have been laid off.
Celyn90 - Nice to see you back and in such good spirits
Specsappeal - Welcome
Right i need another cuppa and i shall see what bits and bobs i can get out of the way now that i`ve a bit of extra time. I normally get up at four for w*rk so i have at least 45 minutes extra to get some little jobs out of the way before i leave the house.
Wonder how long it will take to scrape the car this morning
Have a great day peeps and i shall pop back later to see how you are all doing
Take care

Morning everyone,
Soapy Congratulations. That's one strapping big boy you've got there. Can't wait until the pics.
Thriftlady Happy belated Birthday for yesterday. Your gift sounds right up your alley.;)
Had a lovely day yesterday with DSis & I also bought more Christmas presents. I think I"m pretty much sorted now. Will wrap them up and hide them this week sometime and I"ll have more of an idea. I buy throughout the year so it's a wrapping up is a surprise for me too.
It's been another hot day here. I took DGS shopping & library. Had lunch & then while he painted I made a loaf of bread, biscuits & cooked up some rhubarb & apple. I took him home before and I poisoned the weeds etc in their yard. Off to let the chooks out shortly and do some watering. Tea is HM pizza with veg stir-fry & rhubarb & icecream.
Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> not well or down. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all :hello:
A belated Happy Birthday to Thriftlady - many happy returns!
Congratulations to Soapy & family too :j
Up early to put the finishing touches to a birthday cake for a colleague at work, she is celeebrating the big 4 0 - I should really have done this last night but I went to Mr M's and came back pooped.
Have good days everyone and Hugs for those that want them0 -
You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
In my advent calendar today - a robin :santa2:
I was freezing by the time I got home from town yesterday, there was no way I was going back outside so the garden's still a mess
I've put the heating on to get the last of the washing mountain dry, just the ironing to do now.
Everyone raved about my chelsea bunsDunno why, I made them the lazy way - basic white dough, sultanas and a bit of sugar. lol. I've been ordered to make more
So cardmaking and baking for me today.
I checked my bank account online, eon have changed my monthly DD from £115 to £149  I think not - I'll be on the phone to them today. I keep an eye on what we're using and I definitely don't need to be paying that much.Bulletproof0 -
Good Morning to Sunnyday, Aussielass, Morwenna and Tru - and to everyone still to post!
Also up at stupid hour due to aged dog who needs to be let out "now!" as soon as he starts snuffling! And then of course I'm fully awake due to the blast of icy air that comes in through the open door. Still, although I'd forgotten to set the dishwasher last night (cheaper over night!) it's still completed its cycle on the lower tarrif. WM almost finished and one load of washing from yesterday dried. Have also completed the Christmas letter. We always do a basic printed job which we then add to individually as appropriate.
Need to be in school really early anyway as caretaker not well and I'll need to open up. TG we have someone else who's happy to stand in to do some basic cleaning - been there, done that!
Soapy, so glad your son has arrived safely! Thriftlady, hope your birthday was lovely.
Well, better shift myself and get dressed to meet the day. ((HUGS)) to all who need one today.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Wow. I feel like I am late today.
Could not sleep much past 5am. Thought I would try and lie there but failed. Work at 8 and then I need to clean up my office when I get home. There is a ton of stuff I should e-bay to get rid of and then I have a clean and tidy office again. Not much else to report really.
Went to Specsavers yesterday and did an eye test and ordered some glasses. I might be able to see now. The most annoying thing was the spec were buy one get one free! I wanted one pair not 2. So why could I not have 1 pair for half price?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good morning everyone,I was up very early for me,4.30 as my poor hubby has to travel up to Scotland for a meeting. It started to snow then and it's perishing right now but very pretty.I'm hoping I'll get my washing dried today,I spent all day yesterday running in and out as it kept getting soaked.
It's just been on the radio that Tesco is losing customers to Asda,Lidl and Aldi and their profits are down.My heart bleeds for them the greedy so and so's.Serves them right for thinking we were all so stupid we would'nt notice their shooting prices.
N9eav glad you got your eyes tested.I know what you mean about specsavers.I bet they'd get more customers if they offered half price instead of 2 for 1.
Going to go and get my breakfast now,I've got a doctor's appointment later and so will have to brave the great outdoors earlier than I'd like to.
Have a good day everyone,try to keep warm.0 -

Its my OH birthday today, he has just left for work with HM chicken and leek soup and HM sticky ginger cake.
DD is having a lay in today untill 7.30  , as she has a review day at school and only has to go in for 10 mins at 9.40, which is never convienent, but hey ho, We will nip into town for a few bits after. There is also a Lidl close to the school so might pop in there, to see what they have.
Beth glad your hand is better this time, I wanted one of those three bird roasts, but there is not an Aldi close enough to us  , will have to look elsewhere.
Kathy, come back and post, I miss you xx
Cottage pie for tea, need to get a few spuds while I am out, but that is all I need.
Yesterday I picked the beetroot from my garden, and pickled the grand total of 5 beetroot, we ate the tops for tea last night, they are a bit like spinich and delish, will have to ration the beetroot though :rotfl:

Good Morning All
Belated Happy Birthday to ThriftLady - hope you had a lovely day.
Funeral went OK yesterday though it was freezing and the grave plot was down a very steep slippery muddy hill. OH - has 4 pairs of shoes to clean now. DD didnt look very well all the way though and looks like has developed flu so she is in bed. My cold is back and head feels like cotton wool.
Today have a mixture of office work and housework, have a rather large ironing pile but the washing pile is massive too. WM is on and will be cleaning the kitchen worktops with stardrops in a minute.
Have a tesco delivery coming later so will have all the ingredients for my onion marmalade. If I have got loads of other jobs done will make that today but more than likely it will be put off til thursday.
Need to look online today at any jobs that are advertised - they seems to be less and less each time I look.
Not sure what is for tea today, on the menu plan it says something on toast but not sure if I want that after all.
Best be off now, have a great day.
