Thanks for the advice hairyhatman, when I spoke to "Tom" at customer services he said that the unit would have to be repaired. I said that I would like my money back as, after charging it for 2 days, it did not work properly and could not be used. He said I could not have my money back and even after pointing out the Sale of Goods Act, fit for the purpose etc, he still said I could not have a refund as it was not Medions policy. He would not let me talk to a manager and refused to tell me the name of their MD so I could write and complain
As they had dissapeared from their website I thought I would persevere but may not have to now
Lets hope I get the person you spoke to next timeOnly time will tell if I am right or they are wrong0 -
Does anyone know what the quality of the mapping softwares like? Will it shout directions at me while driving? I'm quite tempted, but as I have a palm, going over to the windows pda side feels wrong....

Yes...just stick mount to windscreen....place pda onto mount....plug cable into bottom of pda, plug into cigar lighter. The GPS unit is connected to the same lead which powers the pda...all you do is position gps unit on the dash and turn on pdaWelcome, rogerramjet.

E.M.
All of them tell you which way to turn.... I know peeps who have this system and say the software is ok. prolly better off looking at a dedicated site for reviews of the map software....if you don't like it you could always load tomtom or another company (at a cost)
Look here for more info http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/Welcome, rogerramjet.

Only point to be aware of is that the GPS receiver included in this needs initialising properly through putting it on charge for 2 hours, until then the Medion software may not see it.
Secondly, the GPS receiver doesn't come on these (usually) in a form that will work with Tomtom, you need to make a few changes using a little piece of software you have to download. I have a lot of experience with this so am happy to help anybody who had a problem getting tomtom working on their unit.
Personally, having used both tomtom 3, 5 and medion navigator, I prefer using tomtom for the features and ease of use but you can not beat the quality of Medion's navigator in terms of how much info it feeds you.
For example,
Tomtom might say:
"Go over the roundabout, second exit" and nothing more.
Medion however will say:
"At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A614" and then once it knows you're on the A614, add to this "Carry along this road for 3 miles".
I like that, very reassuring. At difficult junctions however, tomtoms ability to direct you without a glance at the screen is better.0 -
does it have the capability of being wireless????Regards
Sandy0
