I got one a few days ago and it's excellent, ECEPT it loses the 'transcribe' ability {this is where you scrawl on the screen and it recognises the text - it gets it completely wrong, and it's not the way I'm writing] so looks like it will be going back.(boo hoo)

I hope I can get a replacemnet that works, as it's a great little gadget.

So if you haven't already tried yours on 'transcribe' I sugest you do so ASAP.

Which seems to be the better unit? The medion Pocket PC or Micromaxx MDPPC 150 which is being sold at kwik save / somerfield. Dont know much about sat nav but the medion one seems to come with alot more stuff in the box

The Micromax /Mio168/ medion are all the same model made by Mitac, go to Medion shop, click on Satnav/gps and the Kwiksave/Somerfield one is the one at top of Medion list, which they sell at £229.

Got mine the other day ... really pleased ... excellent little unit.

Unfortunately it was missing the instructions, CD and carry case - I presume all in the same pack ...

I trialled the system on my commute from Preston to Liverpool avoiding motorways and tolls (ie M57 and Mersey Tunnel) and it was generally fine. However, twice it sent me off the main road to join it again only yards further down - it must be that the distance was marginally shorter, but I was stuck at traffic lights for ages ... also when I got into the city centre, the unit was trying to get me to do a U-turn on a dual carriageway  but I stuck with my usual route and it adjusted to accommodate this and then sent me the right way.

I reckon the 2003 maps are gonna struggle with city centres because they keep farting about with one-way systems don't they ....

My question - Has anyone else been able to update the maps yet ? The Medion website sells identical versions of the pre-loaded maps for £69 and says updates will be available in 2006, but I don't understand the difference between all the versions of the Navigator software.

Anybody found any :money: free :money: download sites for speed cameras, maps, or any other goodies ?

    Cheers !
  • Mine arrived last week, really pleased with the pda but the cd it came with is all in Spanish

I sent a web enquiry to Medion last Thursday and as I type I am holding on for their technical support department, 10 minutes so far and counting

If anyone has a fast broadband connection and would be willing to email me the contents of their CD then I would be grateful
Only time will tell if I am right or they are wrong

I was on hold for 10 mins last night ... spoke to operator ... explained problem ... she said she would transfer me to technical support ... why ? I've got missing bits ! Anyway after being on hold there for 10 mins, decided to hang up.

I too have sent a web enquiry ... good luck !

If you go to https://www.pocketgps.co.uk there is a free file download that offers speed camera locations that can be donloaded to your sat nav system but they will be charging you for further updates in the future
