  • Outfit were passing on the discount before chritmas but since then it has already been included!
  • I sent a nice reminder with my mothers payment to a caravan company concerning the vat reduction and received a return of 45.00 today in the post.
  • Complete Outdoors at Bourne End don't seem to have bothered making any changes.

Though changing every price would be too difficult it is very easy indeed to make the change at the till on the total cost - most tills can do it automatically, and some shops simply do it with a calculator. As a retailer's margin is only a proportion of the gross price, in effect they are increasing their profit margin by much more than 2.3%, often 10%+ at our expense.
  • today brought a top from bhs - for £10.00 and no vat taken off. was that right?

Exactly. The whole VAT reduction thing was a flash in the pan - Gordon Brown trying to look good when in reality he is just screwing the economy up more. Now we can look forward to the VAT increase in a year or so which you can be sure shops will pass on to consumers...
