What's the strangest "substitute" item you've been offered on your home delivery?

I ordered cooking margarine - I was sent a huge pack of lard.
I suppose they were next to each other and the non-baking selector thought "Same thing!"I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
The most annoying substitution - ordered 2 packs size 5 nappies - got 2 packs size 2 nappies. Even the delivery driver wondered why they didn't pick an alternative brand rather than 3 sizes too small!
My last order was a) 4 hours early, b) missing 19 items - obviously because the driver was in such a rush! 48 hours & 3 calls to customer services later, the store still hadn't phoned my to redeliver so I got a refund :mad:0 -
Ordered a pair of jogging trousers and got a pack of Gouda cheese instead!0

Sometimes I do wonder who picks the online orders ready or delivery. Surely they have done their own supermarket shop before, yet with some of the substitutions you get, it does make you think.
I ordered Japanese soba noodle, and they sent me a packet of super noodles instead.... I wouldn't be so bothered but they are not even in the same isle.
The one that did make me laugh most though, was we ordered their own brand loo roll, and we got their value branded kitchen roll instead, because as we all know they are of course used for the same purpose!I have enough money to last me the rest of my life......until I go and buy something!

I was trying to be good and take off weight, but was stymied by my first Waitrose order, which substituted a large tub of full-fat (40%) marscapone for the zero fat Quark I had ordered, but the driver didn't list it on delivery. I got a full refund - and ate it.
The diet never really got going after that...
The mystery of the random free spring onions that were also added to my order was never solved.0 -
I did my first online shop today. Asda came at 11.10 (due between 11&12) and the guy was lovely. My shopping however was disappointing! The good things I got substituted were 20 bic azers instead of 10 asda, £8 worth of steak instead of £5.50 and pack of 4 garlic instead of one. Why confused me was when they substituted my aubergene for a twin pack of corn on the cob!!Freebies arrived for 2012: bb cream samples, foundation sample0

I always tick the 'do not substitute' button, but I do check alternatives when my item was out of stock. Did my online shop yesterday and the sriacha was out of stock but they did suggest white vinegar instead, they didn't even suggest a single chilli sauce just vinegar...Dec GC - budget £150 spend £7.620 NSD's!!! :T
Nov GC - budget £150 spend £113.93With 12 NSD's!!! :T0 -

Our subs aren't normally too bad but this week I did raise an eyebrow at exchanging my 6 fairtrade bananas for 18 funsize bananas! Yes still bananas but quite a large amount for us to eat in a week lol. Followed by my tilda basmati rice for tesco 40p value rice.....:o
I sent the rice back, but we did keep the bananas out of lazyness.... i think im going to have to use a lot up making breakfast muffins though :j0 -
This thread is making me giggle!
I once ordered 4 different packets of pasta is 4 different shapes and got sent 4 packets of spaghetti.
From the same store I also got apples substituted with satsumas - I wouldn't have minded but the satsumas were all mouldyMaybe the combination of orange and green made them look like apples....
The final straw from said store was when they substituted my 12 pound turkey with two small chickens. Never used them again after that.£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
£2 Savers Club 2015 #8 £250£200 :j
