What's the strangest "substitute" item you've been offered on your home delivery?

I once ordered jelly that you make with water, got sent jam instead.
I've had the same problems as others in the past in that things on the delivery are supposedly oos but I drove the 15 miles there as was desperate for some things and everything was in stock
I've heard of fruit jelly being substituted with KY jelly."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
In the days when I had milk delivered - I left a note out for some eggs and was left a packet of tea!
I chased after the milkman to give it back who seemed bemused that it wasn't acceptable to me. I didn't even drink tea.Not Rachmaninov

This has been too funny! I've never ordered online - mostly because I hate to think of all those carrier bags being used, but also I was concerned with not getting the freshest fruit etc but I'm now considering ordering just to see what does arrive! lol
I know Tesco website gives you the option to have things delivered without bags - they are packed in boxes which you unpack immediately and hand back. I think they also take bags back for recycling if requested.
I can't speak for other supermarkets as I haven't tried them recently.
Cool thread, nearly as funny as 'Having fun with Debitas' and that's saying a lot. Do you reckon packers might make some of these substitutions just to improve a dull shift?
Keep posting folks!Miggy

I ordered a pack of 3 courgettes and got a cucumber instead. I know they look the same but you can't really use them to make the same things.
I also ordered a blonde hair dye and they sent a black one, which I swiftly sent that back.0 -
Got my first online order from Tesco (it worked out cheaper than going to the shop as there was £10 off, which more than paid for delivery).
I was dismayed to find no funny substitutions
The only one was they replaced one of the red wines in the 3 for £10 offer.
Might have better luck next time, lol!0 -
My mum had vanilla pods substituted for a lavender airspray.War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0

I ordered a bag of prawn crackers to go with a homemade chinese and I ended up with a packet of skips.
Both prawn flavour I suppose but not so tasty with the meal0 -
This thread is so funny my boyfriend and I have been sitting here laughing so hard at it and he's an online shopper for Sainsbury's.
I just wanted to make a comment about the people complaining about things being in stock when they go to the store...I don't know about other shops but my boyfriend starts his shift at 5am and he's one of the first people in the store so usually at this time half the shelves are empty, and the first van leaves at 8.30am, when some of the shelves don't get restocked until after this time. So sometimes it's not being lazy...there just really isn't anything on the shelves that early in the morning! From the sounds of things it is a very flawed system, so some of these things don't suprise me! But then most on here are just ridiculous!0
