  • I ordered ground spice (garam masala), but ended up with a bottle of old spice - haven't looked back since...

LOL thats so funny would want a curry with old spice in it.:rotfl:
  • The most random substitution I've ever had is chocolate covered turkish delight in place of mixed peppers - now iwas pregnant at the time but I still didn't fancy it in a stir fry/

I also often get meat replacements for obviously vegetarian items , now ok the picker doesn't know we're veggie but you would have thought someone picking the order might have noticed a distinct lack of meat as they were going along , or if someone has ordered a lot of quorn/meat free stuff , it might serve as a bit of a clue?
  • i used to be a shopper for iceland in the store - i ALWAYS phoned customers with replacements- i even phoned them if something was a better offer - ie if they had ordered 8 pack of burgers at say three quid but the 4 pack at one pund fifty was on offer - i was great at that job :-)
  • I just got a bottle of fairy lemon washing up liquid instead of a lemon for my gin and tonic

Aw gawdm this reminds me of the times I've had Tesco deliveries. Had one to my mum's house, full of lactose free stuffs for me to enjoy. Except it turned up with three bags of beer!

  • I ordered a bag of chocolate mini eggs to decorate a cake at easter from Asda and got a giant Flake easter egg.

It would have crushed the cake the size of it.

This is a fabulous thread! Like a lot of you, I do want to do a big online shop now to see what happens...
From Asda, I think we've had pre-cooked chipolatas instead of raw - not great for marinading! - that were more expensive but were charged the original price. They also sent us some cereal/seed snack bars instead of a box of cereal. I think we got our money back and got to keep the item there.
Pushing the pennies around to try and make pounds...

I ordered some Bernard Matthews turkey slices and got a massive oven-ready turkey. I think it was about 11lbs.

Not as good as some of your experiences but it made us laugh all the same!
