What's the strangest "substitute" item you've been offered on your home delivery?

I use Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys. I always indicate 'no substitutes'
I once had a wonderful 'freebie' from Tesco - 4 bottles of wine which were listed at £10 each.
I always reported freebies before and had been told 'our mistake - keep it'.
This freebie I didn't risk reporting;)0 -
I had aunt bessies Vegetarian toad in the hole, substituted by yes you gueseed it a meat toad in the hole !0

I had a customer at work who'd paid for a game for her son, and had actually received a Halloween witches hat and mask. Particularly funny as this was in November.......0

:rotfl:This thread has had me in stiches.
Remind me to never have my shopping delivered!0 -
My wife works for Waitrose, when she does the deliver side she is amazed by what get sub'd.
On there system the shopper chooses the sub, sometimes they really don't know what to do so the nearest item gets put it, with sometimes hillarious results.
72 bottles of antibac handwash was the best! These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
I've always found that Asda are the best at delivering extra 'surprises'. I once unpacked my shopping after the driver had left to find, not 1, but 6 cucumbers. Do you think Asda were trying to tell me something? Friends ended up with the extra ones...It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. I suddenly really want to do an online order just to see what I get!! Although OH's dad is a tesco delivery dude and he said no-one would ever bring the shopping up to our flat as we are on top floor and no lift.
great thread though!!

I used to live in a top floor tenement flat (no lift) and got deliveries from Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose while living there. One of the Sainsburys guys complained a lot but the others didn't much.
I always offered to help. But they all said they did a lot of deliveries to top floor flats.

Tesco advertise on their website that they take shopping to your fridge door - so they should!
Had my Tesco delivery last night but I got everything I ordered (a first!) except bottles of coke (got 1 out of 6 ordered!) - and I asked for no subs but in a way I wish I had reading this! :rotfl:0 -
