or install and scan with an upto date scanner in safe mode (F8 at boot).
itsbeef has already said he wasn't that techy, so manual removal may be a more difficult solution than using software..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

No pint running PrevX just yet. It's an Intrusion Prevention System. But you've already been violated so you need to sort that out as your priority. Right-click on the PrevX system tray icon and select 'suspend protection' for now.
You'll only need PrevX once you've got your system cleaned up.
Are you really, really, really sure you don't want to format? You could have had it sorted easily by now.

Your cup is overflowing with options, you need to do either an on-line scan or download a scanner, install it, and run a scan, preferably in safe mode (F8 at boot).
If prev-x is causing problems, disable or uninstall it until you are sure your PC is clean. If you do have something nasty, it hasn't protected you..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

LOL
I'm gonna leave beefy in peace now to work thru some of the advice and options we've posted.
I'm more than happy to continue advising as I'm not the one sweating over the problem and it's always interesting and challenging for us to come up with a fix.
But there has to be a point where, if time is a premium (particularly for a work pc), the best option is to cut and run.
Yet again an instance of where having a robust, incremental back-up policy makes format and image restore very quick and painless.
