Turkey mince

I have a book on cooking turkey and you can use this meat for anything you would cook with mince or you can chop up steaks and stir fry. It is lower in fat than mince so is a healthier option.0

Yep. If you can't rely on a former Chancellor of the Exchequer for a good recipe, who can you rely on...:rotfl:0 -
I meant nigel slater
but I was watching Nigella on the telly at the time

I've never really cooked with turkey but as it's quite cheap I'd really like to give it a go. Anyone got some good recipes for me? Also, does turkey mince generally work in place of beef mince in common recipes such as spag bol and chilli or does it not really go?Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

I love turkey and its high in tryptophan which can help with depression/anxiety etc so its perfect for this time of year!
I usually do roast turkey breast instead of a chicken... Turkey kebabs (use any marinade, sticky ribs one is good!)... Turkey burgers... Lots you can do with turkey but I don't tend to use recipes... just make it up as I go along!0 -
Turkey kebabs sound lovely. We normally make Pork kebabs/skewers with a chinese or barbecue marinade, we put chunks of pepper and onion and do them under the grill, going to try turkey for next week! Or maybe turkey and pork if I can get them cheap enough :-S0

In the ASDA magazine on page 30 is a recipe for Turkey coucous salad. I thought it looked nice and is on my meal plan for the end of the week.
I imagine it would taste fine in risotto, pasta etc too."A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

I usually just roast the whole turkey or turkey breast. We have a regular dinner with mashed potatoes and veggies, and also a bread stuffing (dressing). I cook the stuffing separately, not inside the bird. With the leftovers we have cold sandwiches or hot turkey sandwiches covered with gravy. I also make soup sometimes from the turkey carcass with noodles and veggies. You can also make a casserole with leftover meat cut into small pieces, gravy, maybe some sour cream, cooked egg noodles and chopped onion, peas and carrots, salt & pepper, seasonings to taste like sage, thyme, etc.
I substitute ground (minced) turkey all the time for ground beef-- it works best in recipes with other strong flavors, like italian dishes with tomatoes and garlic. Most times my OH doesn't even notice the difference!0 -
I love turkey mince and now never use anything else for bolognese, chili, cottage pie etc.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
