  • I always used 'recycled' packaging. It is good for the earth and it keeps costs down for both myself and the buyer.
If i sell second hard clothes i often post them in a clean carrier bag. I think its a brilliant way of reusing and i have never had a complaint yet.

  • IMO there are two types of sellers the ones that used recycled packing where approppriate for the benefit of the environment and to keep costs down for the buyer. The other is the seller that does not care if it approppriate and sends a dirty carrier with a bit of tape on so it comes undone to get lost, wet etc.

I don't see a particular problem with using carrier bags, provided they are clean and provide adequate protection. I keep all of the plastic bags that magazines, etc come in and use those either to put and item in before packing, or scrunched up as packaging. I have on occasion used inside out Next delivery bags (nice thick plastic) for posting clothes, but would have additional wrapping inside.

As always, if you are not happy with the packaging then your feedback scores and commentary should reflect this.

I certainly dont have a problem with recyclying. I recycle constantly that isnt the issue.
Its not the point its that one the carrier bags are dirty and disgusting. The sellers are charging extra for packaging and are also not packaging the items correctly for the posting.
If they were concerned about the enviroment they certainily wounld'nt be using carrier bags as these are more harmful to the enviroment and non- degradable. Unlike a recycled envelope ,box or bag.
They are also the kind of sellers who when the item arrives damage say its not their responsability .
I think ANGEL00079 point is pretty much right its about the seller and their level of care.
  • the most inventive packaging i received recently was a video game wrapped in what appeared to be a pizza restaurant time sheet (this was facing inwards so it was blank on the outside, they'd obviously given it some thought...).

i couldn't help but chuckle, and wonder whether this was a regular money saving occurance from this seller, or he'd run out of packaging and used whatever he could lay his hands on !

I bought some polly pocket toys for my daughter ie including the old very tiny dolls. The seller stuck them in a low grade supermarket carrier, with holes in, did not seal it, put that in a flimsy cardboard box and just taped the main join. Not surpringly, the little dolls did not make it though the main part of the toy did.

I was really seriously annoyed but as I had got the main part of the item and as she promised to find me some more (she never did of course) there did not seem to be much I could do. Downside of ebay to write off to experience.

I always send my clothes in inside out thicker carrier bags with lots of tape. I don't see the problem and none have any of my buyers.

I send everything out in brand new padded envelopes. At christmas time, I even wrapp stuff in wrapping paper too...But tbh I am not sure how much longer I will do so- not only do they ad anything up to £1.50 to package, but they are also new, not recycled, and everytime I get something wrapped in a carrier bag, -or chopped up bin bag, I feel guilty that I am sending out items in something that is new and adding to a global landfill and pollution problem.
And it adds money to my postage fee.

I have not really had too many issues with packaging, the only few are when the item inside is clearly on disply, this includes a DVD player being sent in the DVD player box with all the specs written on the front- though thats not really something that should worry me as had it been stolen, I would have been able to claim it back via paypal.
