Kingfisher group (comet, b&q, woolworths) vouchers suspended?

I can also confirm that Comet have stopped accepting Kingfisher vouchers. We didn't find out until we went to spend them instore today. I'm not happy as there has been no warning that they would suddenly stop accepting them.
I phoned Comet Customer Services who confirmed that 'senior executives' made the decision a couple of days ago that they wouldn't accept them any more. I said that I was disappointed that this action had been taken without giving customers a chance to do something about it. We've been saving the vouchers to buy a new tumble drier, and now we won't be able to buy it!
Kingsfisher are still selling these vouchers on their website. Is this legal?

I went in to comet on saturday to buy a £500 laptop I have been saving my vouchers for....gutted!0

I too have had the same problem with Comet and Kingfisher Vouchers. Only I was using my £500 of vouchers towards payment for gifts. I called Kingfisher who told me they are hoping to resolve the issue and will call me back by the end of the week.
Should I hold my breath?:mad:0 -
Another thing to watch out for - some vouchers have an expiry date on the back. One of mine (£25) expires this month0

Do keep us posted, please. I've got some of these and think it's outrageous that you can't use them at Comet, and maybe not B&Q either soon, when neither of these companies are connected to the Woolworths failure.
The vouchers clearly say on them that they are redeemable at Woolworths, Comet and B&Q. How can it then be legal for Comet to refuse to take the vouchers, and at such short notice too? Kingfisher plc are still a fully trading company and therefore these vouchers should not be being refused at a company clearly listed on the front of them.
Could it be time for Martin to investigate the legality of the refusal?0 -
I tried to use my vouchers today in B&Q but they would not accept them. The staff had no idea if you can get your monety back. Does anyone have any idea if we can get our money back?
thanks0 -
In the time between ordering £250 of Kingfisher vouchers and them arriving by post Comet, ceased accepting them; the Countdown scheme through which I got them are 'waiting' for a resolution to conflict between Comet and Flogistics [AFS] but cannot refund the purchase price or transfer to another company such as Currys or John Lewis. So I still have no fridge freezer and have effectively frozen the money without access to it or interest on it.

I too have tried to use my kingfisher vouchers at B & Q, the manager there advised me that their head office had advised that you should refer to who ever issued the vouchers, hopefully to get a refund. Can't see that happening though0

I paid for some stuff in B & Q on Tue. 9th. Dec. morning using Valid (11/10) KINGFISHER gift vouchers. These show as valid in:
B & Q
Comet
Woolworths
That was about 11:30 am.
No Problems. :T
Found I needed some more insulation, wife popped in about 5 p.m. to collect, tried to pay with Kingfisher Vouchers again.
The Bsatardos refused them.
They said you could only use Kingfisher in guess where? --- WOOLWORTHS. --- The wonder of !!!!!! it is of course that Kingfisher don't own Woolworths.
My wifepointed out that the "Old Man" had paid for stuff earlier using the same vouchers.
The cashier pointed to a notice which looked new and showed pictures of the various denominations (£1,£5, £10, £25) Kingfisher vouchers which were now deemed "not acceptable" ---- !!!!!!
So at least we seem to know that either Kingfisher or Bent & Questionable made the decision to dis-honour their liablities on Kingfisher issued vouchers between 11.30 am and 5 pm on Tue 9. Dec.
Question: Anybody got an idea of the legal position?
ie:
Vouchers obtained in good faith as valid in all 3 Stores. bought via. Countdown.
Vouchers still in date.
Now seem to be forced to use in a failing half-empty shopping operation
Conditions on Vouchers state "Can be exchanged for goods in any of the following stores:
B & Q
Comet
Woolworths "
Seems like very sharp (probably Accountant Driven) practice, verging on Theft to me, what about others?
KINGFISHER Voucher Holders everywhere Beware
and:
What about that good old "Bent & Questionable firm? Thought they loved and encouraged us geriatirics to both work and shop there!
Errrrr! p'raps not? :eek:0
