Yes, but rates changing quickly now and their site does say "rates subject to review", so no guarantee the 5.15% will last long.
May be better to go for a fixed rate, albeit at a lower figure, if you want peace of mind for the term.
This has gone down today to 4.15!! Just after i trnasferred money in !!"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p

ok, I need some help here.......as you veterans will know my money with Icesave was an ISA, and although the intention is to re-invest as much as I can in an ISA, i need to have it somwhere at the moment which is accessible, as I need some of it to live off whilst I sort out my new business.
I already have a NR account, and I also recently opened an Egg account . NR have just dropped to 4.15 and I can get 5.05. at Egg. I am nest to put it all in NR and have the government backing despite all " Eggs" in one basket (sorry coudnt resist!!), or shall I split it to get the better rate??? I am not sure how safe Egg is really??"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p

Hello everyone.
Bummer about Northern Rock, but only to be expected.
Can anyone who applied for the Kent Reliance Fixed Rate Bond (as I recall, KenC, VeryUnique and Chameleon) and sent forms and cheque late last week tell me if they've had the cheque cashed? I'm now worried my application may not have got there (even though sent Guaranteed Next Day Delivery). The chap on the phone said cheques were banked at head office straight away, but I guess they may have a backlog. It's annoying since I have 20K sitting in my bank account earning nothing (when it could be earning next to nothing elsewhere!).

The Halifax fixed rate ISA is still available 5.00 % or 5.50% for over £30k. Open it and they promise to hold the rate for the next 60 days to give you chance to get your icesave money and tax certificate sorted. I cant see it staying at this rate very long especially if the BOE drop interest rates again tomorrow."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

My KRBC cheque has not been cashed yet. Sent on thursday with guaranteed next day delivery. On the same day I sent my cheque to Bir Mid and that has been cashed today.
I get round teh lack of interest on my current account by have a deposit account at the same bank at sweeping the balance daily. When cheques are presented you see the account overdrawn but can do an online transfer immediatley so no interest is charged. You need to be on the ball and do this every day without fail though.0
