  • Thanks urg123 -

Slowly but surely wins the race (as I keep telling myself!) I decided to be positive after the mobile 'phone contract rejection and applied for Credit Expert to try and figure out exactly how bad a hole I'm in re. defaults.

Not too horrendous (one registered default from 2006), but I'm yet to pay it off - which is no doubt why no sort of mainstream credit provider will touch me with a bargepole!

Things that did concern me were the facts that I'm still listed as being associated with an ex (we split up 3 years ago) and the amount of detail that underwriters can see when you apply for a loan. I'll need to make sure I'm squeaky clean in future :o

Ed is that you, why the new ID I am confused or is it someone posing as you lol

When I have the proceeds from my house I am going to do a credit check to see if I have any debts I have conveniently forgotton about.

I dread seeing my score as I know it will be awful although saying that I have managed to get mobile phone contracts.

I know you shouldn't be too bothered by these scores but it will be good to see if go up.

I will definately need to look into ways of upping my score maybe getting some stupid high interest card and pay it back in full monthly or one of those prepaid ones. Will look into that once debt free.

Not to worry Doodledo - it's me, accidentally logged into a duplicate account that has been 'haunting' me since I first registered for the forums and forgot my details. Sometimes the forum software seems to log me in to the wrong account, which can confuse matters!

You should be ok as a former home owner, but it is best to check. Also worth remembering that credit scores are unique to each lender and their underwriting team.

As for me I'm going to not even waste my time looking for more credit (even that as innocent as a 'phone contract) until the debts are paid off. Currently on a holiday in Scotland, but have £££ to whack my remaining overdraft balance with when I get back.

My GF is also having a good week on the DFW side of things, after a small work bonus finally cleared her student overdraft (after 4-5 years!) She has vowed to not use her overdraft in future...

I'm being well behaved this month (well, apart from the £31 I spent on a bottle of Jack Daniels in duty free on the way home from Scotland!)

Am now paying any and all extra money I get towards my debts (overdraft first).

£91.95 paid today (£53.95 from what used to be a gym membership, £32.35 expenses, £5.30 random and £0.35 from Quidco). £0.35 towards a debt might seem a little tragic, but my mindset is that every penny counts...

Also closed down my investment ISA today, that should be another £260 or so.

GF is still in Scotland, so spending tonight being exciting and getting credit reports from Equifax and Callcredit.

Not doing so shabbily with the old DFW yourself :money:

So... bloomin'... hot! Must... drag... self... to... computer

The current batch of weather is absolutely foul for a relatively pale skinned Scot who doesn't like heat - I'm cheering myself up with some 79p beer from Lidl. Got to love the Germans, they certainly do a good beer a lot cheaper than anyone in the UK :money:

Also found some triple bladed razors that cost 25% of what my current Wilkinson Quattro ones do, so will be giving those a fair shot.

Off to write some Dooyoo reviews, shave and play the Wii  GF gets back tomorrow, so must get all the bachelor activities out of my system to make way for picnics and hugs!

Paid another £5 to the OD today - every little helps, every little helps :D

Currently £1.50 off a £10 Amazon voucher from Valued Opinions, £1.40 off £10 from my free scratch card on Butlins Bingo and about £9 worth of reviews off a £50 cheque from Dooyoo (aka seven good reviews).

Posted off my letter to request the refund of the money sitting in my investment ISA and also the cashback on it seems to have validated (£85). Not expecting to get it as I closed the account and don't think I fulfilled the terms and conditions, but you never know, it may yet turn up.. :rotfl:
