Got a cheque for £206.90 from Legal & General today (ISA), with another £50 to come once they cancel the DD. Was very disciplined and paid £200 straight towards my overdraft, which is now looking positively tiny!

    Good times :D

Today was a rough one at work - while I do quite a bit on the old job front I always seem to end up with downtime. This makes me feel incredibly guilty, as there's only so much skiving it's possible to do. Must learn to slow down my pace :o

Well done on the overdraft payment.

You need to slow down either that or Ill pass you some of my work :T

It would probably be more exciting! I do try and slow down, but I'm very much an all or nothing sort of personality. This extends to all areas of my life and I'll happily stay awake 'til the wee hours of the morning to finish decorating a room, or when I was a student I'd still be in the library at 2 am :D

Also doesn't help that I'm in the public sector, as I'd feel guilty not putting in the effort (after all, everyone in the country is my boss!) Before any tells me off for posting, I'm not at work just now....

Morning Edinburgher. Hope you and GF are all good.

2am in the library just doesn't sound fun to me lol. Maybe at work you need to speak to your manager about taken on some extra responsibility/work if you are finding you have spare time. They be conscious as you are fairly new to the role not to push too much on you, if that makes sense.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :D

    Morning doodledo

I'm sure you're right about that. Things will probably get a bit busier come September (mid point of my probation), as we're going to re-jig my objectives for the rest of the year.

Evening, sounds like a good idea to rejig your objectives as sounds like you are doing really well.

I think you're like me and like to be stretched. I mean easy days are good some times but I hate not being busy.

Yeah - I really don't understand how the very few people who are long term unemployed and don't care can cope with it - not doing anything is blaady dull

Today was a really good day at work, oddly enough because we were having lots of problems and demands from colleagues that we couldn't quite fulfil. The fact that we did all we could to try and sort them made the day fly in and people are always very appreciative when you do your best (I know I am).

Sig updated after a mighty £6.90 went towards my overdraft. I am living the dream this week ;) Another £110 on the way by the end of next week (Dooyoo cheque, ISA refund and £10 from free scratch card).. Getting there.

Also managed to get my credit history updated to remove a financial association with my ex. I was finding it a bit stressful as it took them nearly three weeks to fix (which seems odd, as we split up three years ago). Anyway, done now and there'll hopefully not be any similar surprises when my OH and I decide to apply for a mortgage in future :o

I am the same I get bored so easily and I love days when you get lots of adhoc things thrown at you and it all gets a little chaotic..... does that make me odd lol

Well done on the £6.90, every penny counts. I still haven't updated my SIG :o must do that tonight.

I wonder if it was the association with your ex that made them refuse that mobile account maybe

I know that she also had/has? a rubbish credit history, but I think the outstanding default on my personal credit history is probably what did it :o Ah well, it will be gone by 2012 :rotfl:

What is it about Fridays and willpower? I'd spent £7 in four days on food, then Friday rolls along and I manage to splash £8 up the wall in one day :( I'm starting to think that I spend the most money when I'm bored, which is never a good thing for a librarian... as we're usually bored!

Did I really need that latte!? Would I have been able to get a salad for less than £4 from Wasabi? Yeah, I probably didn't/would've...

I managed to cap off the day with at least one very small MSE triumph, as I picked up return flights for me and the gf to an unspecified European destination for a winter city break. It's unspecified as I know that she sometimes checks in on my electronic writings, which is very flattering as it's mostly a lot of rambling nonsense :D

For the first time ever, being a money enemy and an economic cripple has worked out well for me - my basic bank account came with a shiny Visa Electron card, meaning that I can in essence get free Ryanair flights if I time them right. £4 for a 1000 mile round trip for two? Not bad.

We're off to see the new Harry P movie this weekend at our cheaper local cinema. I'm not sure what it is about the sexshy ways of you ladies (in a Sean Connery voice) - I'm still to see both of the movies that I have fancied this year, but the missus still manages to drag me along to watch a movie that I can't really be bothered with and will feature tonnes of late teenage male eye candy. We chaps just can't win..

:DEvening :D glad it's the weekend.

I am definately worse when I am bored. I really must get into the habit of doing a packed lunch every day. I spend a stupid amount of money on food and drink during the week and its all just down to laziness.

Awww get you booking a break for you and your GF. I think the real reason your GF gets to see the films she wants is because you're a big softie :p
