I really must get into the habit of doing a packed lunch every day

I used to do this, but I ended up associating it with punishing myself for being a debtor! Every time I made up a sandwich I felt like I was being oppressed :D It's amazing the silly psychological associations our brains can make with the most basic of actions...
is because you're a big softie

Mmhh - maybe... If this is the worst I get called this weekend I'm on a roll :rotfl:

Found another couple o' quid in an old savings account - signature updated.

Dentist today (boo!) Although I only got charged the basic NHS fee, the charming dentist did deliver the bad news that I'm going to have to pretty much abandon fizzy drinks :o

My love of Diet Coke and nasty energy drinks has led to some fairly bad acid erosion on my top teeth and I'd rather give up the fizzy stuff than end up paying £800 to the NHS for replacing the teeth! I'm told that the only way to fix it is to behave myself, so that's something else off the menu

Ah well - at least it can be salvaged...

Paid another £11 towards my overdraft as the gradual drip of payments into my current account that happens towards the end of the month has begun :money:

I spoke to BT today as my contract for the land line has come to an end and I had to re-negotiate it to save a few pennies.

I'm only just starting to unwind after getting myself worked up into a big ball of stress during a 35 minute call to an Indian call centre during which the poor chap on the other end of the line had to put up with my loathing of BT. I get really frustrated talking to someone who's a very good speaker of English, but not a native speaker, as their syntax and mannerisms can make it quite hard to understand fairly complex things like calling plans and add ons :o

Not altogether unsuccessful tho, as I managed to get £13 knocked off the bill straight away and got another £10/quarter taken off for the next year.

Got a few pounds from Amazon today after I sold a Wii game that neither the gf or I could fathom, so have paid another £11.91 towards my overdraft :T

Have been quite busy giving up a few small money making ploys, as they were more hassle than they were worth:

    1. Yougov: Has anyone ever made the £50 payment?
    2. Daily scratchcard: This one was accidental, after I withdrew all monies in the account as opposed to leaving myself 10p like I normally do. Ah well, it's not worth the time for £10/quarter!
    3. Dooyoo - I'm toying with giving this up, it also takes a lot of time for minimal reward. I actually calculated that I get £2/hour for the time it takes me to write decent reviews and rate others - a Sunday job would be a better idea if I feel more skint in future!

Oh how I look forward to the days when I'll be able to use my spare time for relaxing, hobbies and exercise instead of clicking links for a few pence an evening :rotfl:

    2.

HI there Edinburgher - I thought I would come out of lurkdom to confirm that I managed to get the £50 cheque from yougov - took three years though!:rotfl:
Once I reached the £50 mark the cheque appeared automatically about a week later.

While I'm here, I'd just like to say that I totally share your feelings about BT - to the point where I have to leave the room when their advert comes on TV!

Will head back to lurkville now! Take care and best of luck with your DFW journey!
    Overpay!

Anyone who knows me knows that isn't true! :rotfl: I quite like the yougov questions as they often get used in policy-making (so I believe!) and also in the national newspapers, so I saw the £50 as an added bonus - it really would be well below minimum wage if you did it to make money!

You're doing fabulously well, by the way. Hope the "new" job is going well. You've probably been there about six months by now!:T

Another day, another Dollar (or £10 off my overdraft to be precise!)

I now have absolutely no spare money in the bank 'til I get paid, but still have £20 or so in my wallet for lunches and travel for next week.

We were meant to be going for a picnic today at the beach, but Broadstairs has heavy rain forecast and we're rescheduling for tomorrow. Think I will take a trip to the library and update some banking details instead :money:

Have a good day in DFW land folks...

Less than pleased to receive a letter from e.on today saying that they want to bump up our monthly gas payment to £61! For two people that's horrendous and I've got a good mind to switch :money:

I think there's a few factors to blame for the fact that we currently owe them £131 (down from £177):
    1. Last winter was one of the worst in decades
    2. We had no curtains until January as we were paying back the £2000 it cost us to move to London
    3. Our radiators need bled (I've got a key for this)

Have contacted the landlady to ask if it's ok for us to switch, as moving to Scottish Power with a dual fuel tariff would save us close to £200 a year.
